Hurricane Ian leaves boats piled up at marina in Fort Myers |

The place near Fort Meyers where my Dad's boat was kept. Cars were floating away as well. Not good.

Quoted: I was scrolling around the beach areas like Captiva and Sanibel and there's some houses that are wiped out or have major damage, but I was pretty surprised that from the air a fair number look pretty okay. ETA: Not sayin' they're not badly damaged, I just expected more "foundations". View Quote Yeah me too. The wetlands really tamp the wave action. Look at the Shalimar cottages on google maps then on the imagery. I stayed there a couple years ago. Its completely gone. |

Wind, driving rain, and some power outages. We lost power about an hour ago, but surprisingly it came back after 15-20 minutes, I was expecting to be on the generator for the duration. |

Quoted: I believe blackfox was told water to his second level, those houses don’t have low ceilings, that’s 12-18’ from ground level or more? There’s going to be a lot more damage than is visible from the sky. View Quote Our friends on Bonita Beach had water up to their first floor ceiling—10’ above the ground. Their pool deck/first floor is about 10 feet above sea level. Others on the Imperial River in Bonita got 4-5’ of water in their back yard—2” in their house. So, not great/not horrible. Everyone we know west of 41 did ok. But, with all the damage in downtown Naples and north up to Vanderbilt Beach is gonna break the bank. Billions of dollars in homes—from Port Royal (probably self insured) to Naples pier/3rd St./5thAve. are serious big money homes. Watch out for cheap lambos, RR/Bentley’s and other high dollar cars for sale across the country. TC |

Quoted: The daytona area is in bad shape. My neighborhood flooded along with our house. I was getting my kid to safety and hooked up with a vet. We ended up rescui a ton of our neighbors. I spent 7 hours walking through flood waters dragging a canoe (wind was to strong to paddle) and everything hurts. Sucks getting older. Not much help from emerge services. The Sherrif's office came through with a military truck and got some people, but only made one trip through the neighborhood. Local LEOs came with their own canoe as it turned dark and were trying to figure out who was still on their houses when I finally left. Most people only got out with the clothes on their back or a small bag. I was lucky enough to have the use of neighbor's canoe and got the pets, clothes for my family, and some of the guns out. Ended up forgetting my bug out bag I had packed with all my clothes though. If anyone know of an open walmart where I can get some underwear I would appreciate it. View Quote Man, sorry to hear that, but kudos for helping others out. A word of caution: flood waters can harbor nasty crap, which can enter any breach in the skin. Have the wife examine you daily for the next few days, looking for any signs of a skin infection. If it happens, catching it early and getting on antibiotics is key. |

Quoted: TECO (Tampa/Hillsborough) has 196k without power which is down from the 296k yesterday about this time. My house is still out. Left the wife and kids In Gville with in-laws and drove back to Tampa this morning because work wanted me back. Fortunately the power was back on when I got here. Was out yesterday evening. Had a FHP convoy, with about 40 vehicles with lights flashing, headed south pass me around Wesley Chapel. The Teco map is really inaccurate. Still shows that work is in the middle of an outage and said my house had power yesterday. Neighbor said they didn’t have power and confirmed no power at my house. Hopefully the deep freezer hasn’t thawed before I get home today and get the generator going. We took everything we wanted from the fridge with us when we left.
