the flowmaster is significantly cheaper but the construction is similar between the two.....anyone have experiences with either? I know magnaflow is a known quantity as good so lets hear what ya got.....points for audio.
**EDIT** I'm specifically talking about the pictured flowmaster FlowFX muffler pictured below....not the chambered mufflers...i've had plenty of experience with those... Attached File |

What’s your vehicle and the goal with them? Do you need max flow for modified engine you’re racing or are you just making more/better sound on a late model? Makes a difference. For example, don’t put either on a convertible as they will be noisier than most want for a rag top.
We run flow masters, they work, have always worked and the one time I had issues with their mufflers they 100% stood behind them...As far as sound, I think the 3 chamber flow masters sound better on real performance engines...

Last time researching this question, I ended up with a GIBSON stainless system.
Like it enough that I bought a second for wife. |

I have flomaster on my Chevelle, and a magnaflow on my Silverado. Went for 2 completely different sounds for each. Both seem to be reputable, and from my understanding (and probably opinion) flow master sounds slightly better, yet lacks slightly in performance. What are your goals OP?

I've run 40's on various vehicles for years but i'm specifically looking for info on the flowfx/magnaflow type instade of the chambered mufflers. |

Ran Flowmaster on my classic for 10 years.
Replaced it with a Magnaflow system this summer. Night and day. Magnaflow. Better materials, install, fit, and sound. |
The flowfx sounds really really nice. I've always hated the classic flow master sound, but like my trucks loud. I usually used dynomax spiral flows as they were dirt cheap and sounded great.
My only complaint is that after 6 months it's already rusting. |

Are you in CLT? I have two almost new Flowmasters you can have, free. 2 1/2 inlet/outlet. They droned insufferably on my 68 Mustang. I cut them off and welded in new Dynomax Turbos.

I put Stainless Work long tubes with hi flow cats and their retro exhaust type mufflers on my 2011 Mustang GT.
The mufflers are small and the whole system sounds great. A lot of the systems I considered sounded ok at idle and sounded like hell when on the gas. Flow Master, Borla, Magna Flow and others just didn't sound good. |

Quoted: My favorite reasonably priced performance muffler is the Dynomax Ultra Flo. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/61196/landing_ufw_main_jpg-1815570.JPG View Quote Came here to post this. I have the catback on my 5.0 F150 and it's perfect. Great rumble, low resonance, muscular sound at WOT with out being obnoxious. Great price as well. You can buy each piece of the cat back (like the ball/cup flange and resonator $100ish) if you want to try piecing together your own kit. Also, ultra flo's are shown to flow better that mangaflow |

Which is it that has a really metallic sound, totally unlike the old turbo muffler sound?
Never liked the sound of Flowmaster or MagnaFlow.
Best sounding muffler is and always has been Spintech. Spintech on the 69 Mustang and 92 GT Drag car Borla S Type on the F150 (I would never pay $1100 for it, came on the truck, does sound sweet though) ETA. DAMN, beat by a minute. |

Quoted: they ain't giving them bitches away though, thats for sure....and they look like hammered ass View Quote They do, but they are solid and sound sweet. I had flowmasters and wait till the internal baffle weld breaks because the outside looks pretty and you get a nasty buzz from the muffler. |

Magnaflow are magnitudes better sounding. Flowmaster always sound metallic and terrible magnaflow sound laminar and smooth and awesome.
Magnaflow. Actually it may be dynomax that sound so good. Flowmaster suck for sure though. |
Functionally, what you've pictured is just a glasspack with an oval housing. Is that what you want, basically a Cherry Bomb that looks like a regular muffler?
Flowmaster made in China also copied magnaflow after there patent ran out.
Magnaflow made in the USA |

Here's the Dynomax UltraFlo on my 5.0 F150. I re-activated my YT to upload this video
ETA: stock manifolds, stock cats, catback kit with resonator Failed To Load Title |

Quoted: Never liked those tinny things My personal favorite muffler is Aero Turbine. Pretty much all straight through perforated core mufflers are close enough that it makes no real difference. View Quote Spintech Tinny???? I disagree as long as they are not dumped. Here are the Spintech on my 69 Mustang. The video doesn't do them justice, it is about 10 years old with a crappy 10 year old android phone. 1969 Mustang Spintech 3" Prostreet |

Are there any that don't hurt performance but make the stock system quieter? That's what I want.
I put a Magnaflow system in my hemi Durango. It sounds great for awhile then it’s annoying as fuck.
Have you researched YouTube? Watched a bunch of dudes who did decibel level tests with their exhausts. Led me to a Flowmaster Super 10. Goddamn did my tinnitus hate me afterwards

Cough up the cash for a Borla if you want nice sound, a little gain in mpg.
I put a Borla SISO on my '05 F150 in '06 and it's the best thing I ever did to the truck. Besides the LineX Xtra, but that's another subject. |
I can’t stand either.
Spend the cash and buy something decent |
I went with a magnaflow catback on my truck
98% happy with it |
I have a magnaflow on my truck. I don’t want to sound like white trash with the flow master.

i honestly can't tell the fucking difference between them
both are loud both usually need resonators to be tolerable don't care what your setup is |
It's a muffler, it doesn't really matter. Just go buy some mandrel bends and have any random muffler shop weld you something up.
Cheaper, more horsepower, sounds better. Your welcome. |
