I want to hang a gun over the fireplace. NOT a double-barrelled shotgun. Of course, it has to be something that probably wouldn't get stolen, and even if it was, it wouldn't burn my ass too bad. Also, it would be disabled, like firing pin removed and placed it the safe disabled, so I couldn't be shot with it by a sneak thief in the middle of the night.
I'm thinking Enfield. I had one years ago that I got really cheap, and if I hadn't sold it, it would be up there now. Nice looking gun, can be had for under $500, which is the most I would spend on a fireplace gun. Suggestions? |

I have a wood stove, and have a Browning Citori O/U hanging on the wall near it (not over it).

I don’t currently have any firearm hanging over it, but I do have Martini Henry I’m contemplating putting up. Not likely that I’ll ever buy any ammo for it.

A Kentucky long rifle and a muzzle loading shotgun hangs over our fireplace

I'd like to have a Demilled AK-47 for a wall hanger.. last time I looked they were rather spendy.

After 30 years, my wife finally approved a rifle to hang in the living room. A Springfield Trapdoor.

When I finally get a fireplace, I want to hang a reproduction Whitworth rifle over it

Winchester 1873 in 32-20. It’s loaded, looks rusty as fuck, but still works like a champ.

Does anyone know where I saw the mantle with a tricorn hat on a mannequin head? I believe it had a big flag in the middle and maybe a modern night vision helmet. My wife is decorating our mantle right now and I wanted to show her.
I'll likely put my Colt 603 / M16A1 |

I got an old double barrel with hammers recently. The stock is cracked, but was repaired, the action is wobbly as hell and there is no way anyone would ever want to fire it.
It looks awesome. I am working on making a plaque to mount it on, then it is going over the fireplace. Honestly in the condition it is in, thats really all its good for. |

Mine gives off too much heat, and I mostly heat with wood. So the non flammable thing I have is an antique five foot saw.

Not over it, but I have a Martini-Henry leaned up against it.

H&R single shot 12 gauge.
When I bought the house one of the first things I was going to do to personalize it was hang a gun over the fireplace. When I went to figure out how to mount it I noticed that there were two large nails hammered into the mortar. I put the shotgun on them and it was a perfect fit. A previous owner or renter must have put them there to hang a gun over the fireplace. |

Just my trophy from when I scored 4 touchdowns in a game for Polk high.

I dont, but I want to eventually get a track of the wolf long rifle kit and build one out. It would serve double duty as a deer rifle and wall hanger. That or a brown Bess or p1853 Enfield.

Nope. A folded American flag in a case, wooden framed photos of my wife and kids, and two bottles of wine where I rode with my Krewe of Bacchus in 2007 & 2010. Also a crucifix. That's about it.

I have a reproduction Remington 1863 Zouave rifle and Remington 1858 Army cap and ball revolver over my fireplace.

In my basement game room there is a Cape buffalo head over the fireplace which takes up pretty much all available space. But next to the fireplace is a percussion Hawken 54 with set triggers.

T-C New Englander muzzleloader I built from a kit 35 years ago with 1 speedload, a powder horn (empty) and a 1840's tomahawk (with a new haft). Attached File

I've got a P14 drill rifle I've been meaning to hang somewhere...

If I can ever figure out how to do it with the weird masonry, it will be a trapdoor. Maybe rotate through the Win Mod 97 or Win 92 Semi-octagon barrel. One of these days I'll find some neat hangers and up one will go.
The Trapdoor is always good for a conversation gambit to shok the unwary. "Is that real? is it dangerous?" "Yes, it's real. Dangerous? when's the last time you saw Indians or buffalo around here?" Good for shocked silence on several levels. |

Yes to my .54 Hawken replica. I take it down before deer season and clean it up while watching JJ.

I really want to hang a demilled rpg7 up.
Write "fuck around and find out" on it and point to that everytime someone asks if it's real. |

I had some swords up on mine years ago.
Now days i have a tv hung above both of them... |

I've got a 1892 in .45colt over the fireplace. It's fully functional but loaded with dummy ammo. There's more dummy ammo in a pistol cartridge belt hung on a saddle horn nearby. Even if someone took it off the fireplace with bad intentions it is only a club with that ammo.
