Quoted: IMO, the Bronco falls short in 3 ways; it is not a solid axel front, it's towing capacity is 3500 lbs +/- depending on the model and it's payload is around 1,100 pounds +/- depending on the model. The solid axel makes sense since 99% of SUV owners, including Jeep owners will never need the benefits of off road performance gained by a solid axel. The towing capacity is also adequate for most people, as is the payload. I just think a relatively large body on frame, 300 horsepower, 400 lb/ft torque vehicle should tow and haul more. The Bronco is a larger 4 door SUV that looks like a 4 door jeep, they make a 2 door version that looks better and is closer to a real bronco but Suzy soccer mom doesn’t want 2 doors to haul the kids around and go to Target in. So the 4 door version is the one you see the most. Mine is rusting away but I still like the final body style the most. Attached File |

The original Bronco was a rustbucket. After a few years it looked like it was taken out for a saltwater bath every day.

This is what OP wanted. While it does look pretty cool and probably wouldve been cheaper for Ford to make as they could just use F150 front ends. i actually like the classic stying on the actual one and how it's modeled after the original Bronco. BTW OP it looks nothing like a Jeep

I am loving my new Bronco. I have previously owned a 78, 81, and a 96.

Wasn't the forerunner of the Explorer the Bronco II?
Ford will sell tons of the new Broncos as it was designed to compete directly against the Wranglers. The only model missing would be a pickup truck version. Which I doubt Ford would consider that since they have 3 trucks models in their lineup already. The original Bronco was its own model, the later Broncos were truck based SUV's. |

Ford didnt copy Jeep to make the Bronco...
...they copied International Harvister |
|
My Badlands Bronco got scheduled for 6/06 build date FINALLY. I'm at -$1000 below invoice and with Ford's price protection I'm looking at almost $5000 off MSRP which is awesome for any new vehicle at this point.
|
|
Unless t's fully loaded out, the new bronco is underwhelming.
|
|
It's pretty funny to see people go crazy and pay well over MSRP for anything that says Bronco on it.
Ford could have slapped that name on any sad box on wheels, and people would still do exactly what we are seeing now. OMG it sez Bronco!!! ItS a JeEp KiLlEr!!! Never mind the metric shit-ton of other similar SUV's Ford has cranked out over the past 20 years. Clearly those were unacceptable. They all had E names. |
|
Thank you OP. That generation of Broncos and Blazers was peak. We had an 85 Blazer at a place I worked, I'd love having that vehicle today.

When I see a new Bronco around town.

Quoted: And I never said that Ford failed they obviously are popular and appeal to many just not me, because they went with Unibody frame on the Bronco Sport, however at least went with Body-on-frame with Bronco but styling that resembles Jeep instead of F150. Fixed it because its a national tragedy here to make a mistake about chassis type with two models of Bronco line. View Quote Then it would be too similar to a 2 door expedition and no one wants that. Ford can sell as many of the new Broncos as they can make, just like Jeep can with the wrangler. |

I sold plenty of Broncos new and used in the 80s and 90s. Checked both the Bronco and the Bronco Sport out while I was in for service. Was offered a decent deal on a Sport - the dealer badly wants my Nautilus on trade.
I really wasn't impressed with either one. I'd rather have my 79 Bronco back again. |
|
If they had made it like the 80’s - 90’s generation, sure they would have sold some but it wouldn’t have exploded in sales like this model has. Ford can’t make them fast enough and they’ve suspended orders until October of 22 because of demand.
From groceries to Moab - the excitement over this vehicle wouldn’t had been matched with a 90’s remake |
