Duh.
It’s cheaper and looks more utilitarian. Not some Silicon Valley California art project. |

Mavericks for the richer
and not for the budget minded, like it was " intended ". If things are rationed then even the the low end is marked up. |

The Maverick isn't cheap (as they said it was supposed to be) and its god awful ugly.
At least the Hyundai has some style and looks way better. The Hyundai needs a 4" lift and some bigger tires and it would look great. |

I'm telling you, Ford is going to sell every Maverick they can build. With ease, like not even trying. It's going to be the next Escort or Taurus for Ford Motor Company.

View Quote I agree and I hate Ford after years of owning them. They gave the public what they wanted in a cheap utilitarian do most things vehicle. It’s the new Ford Sport Track that came to early and was to expensive. I think many people are realizing they don’t need most of the fancy shit that new vehicles come with and makes them more prone to breaking. I would actually love to see them follow it up with low priced low option car and SUV |
|
Fix Or Repair Daily is not as good as they used to be. I see old Ranger trucks at work with over 200k on them. I even saw some on Disney in Bagram. Costs go up and quality hit or miss now. Saw both on the road here as well as regular Bronco and baby want to be Broncos.
Prices higher than the time before, old man asks me why is it more. Take me down to Junior Brown's farm. Attached File |

The Hyundai looks like crap up close. Ford did a good job making the Maverick look similar to their other trucks.

Yeah the maverick pretty much made the Santa Cruz obsolete the day it came out

It’s about as affordable as it’s going to get in this “printer goes brrrr” economy. Do you think cars are going to get cheaper with all the EPA and nanny government mandates? Im surprised they came in at the price they did. I’m not surprised they are selling like hot cakes. |

The Hyundai will undoubtedly last longer and be more reliable.

Quoted: Question, I don't intend to ask follow ups - what makes you say that? View Quote I’m in charge of about 400 Ford vehicles. From Escapes up to F750’s. For the purpose of this discussion, and understanding that the Maverick is based on the Escape, I say that the Hyundai will outlast the Maverick because there is no bigger piece of shit than the Ford Escape. In our fleet, rare is the Escape that makes it to 100k on the original motor or transmission. A garbage vehicle. |

Not all that familiar with the Maverick, so googled it to check it out.
First hit was a listing from Carvana… Used, 3500 mi, $27k MSRP, selling for $39.9k |

The Escape comes with a 3 cylinder, which is probably a bit overtaxed, especially if your fleet regularly carries any sort of payload. Maverick is a larger I-4 in both powertrain options. The hybrid's "CVT" is not a mechanical belt CVT of the type made infamous by GM, Nissan, and others. It's a Toyota Prius-style two motor setup with a single fixed ratio planetary - very durable and proven setup. |

It should - they are splendid little trucks with excellent fuel economy and price

How many Maverick vs SantaCruz will be on the road in 10 years.

The Maverick is a damn good looking truck. The current F150 chrome barge is pushing the ugly envelope, along with their competitors.

Quoted: I've only seen on Hyundai in the wild, never on the lots. View Quote Last time I delivered a Santa Cruz I asked the manager if they sold well. He said they would put it on the turntable display and some college kid or a lesbian (or a combination) would buy it within a day. This guy was the GM. |

Hyundai is almost certainly a superior vehicle, but I would expect Maverick to outsell it by several orders of magnitude.
|
|
Ford likely just has the ability to pump out more to dealerships than Hyundai can, which is pretty much the only reason why sales numbers for any vehicles in 2022 are the way they are.
Sisters boyfriend says the new Bronco is trash because the dealers don't have any to sell. I asked him what vehicle wasn't trash by that metric because everything everywhere is pretty much sold the moment it leaves the delivery trailer. |

We’ve had three Ford Rangers that made it past 300k miles without major repairs, I’m sure the Maverick will do fine.

Am I the only one here that doesn't follow the new car market and had to search each just to see what this thread is about?

Finally saw the Hyundai. It had broken windshield wipers. The car looked like garbage, imo. Like a taller Del Sol with a bed.

Only seen one Santa Cruz in the wild, don’t like it. Don’t hate it. Not really a fan of the new Hyundai grill — except the Veloster N.
Also only seen one Maverick in person. I like it. Could make a nice light weekend adventure mobile. Not off-roading. But car camping and getting to the places. |

If they were so good their dealers wouldn't have a 4 week wait. They're on par with everything else except exotics. |

Compare number of Ford Maverick dealers versus Hyundai dealers please.

Quoted: Maybe, but it's a hell of a lot better looking than the Hyundai Santa Cruz - that's for damn sure! View Quote They look better in person and with the right color A friend said he got one and I looked at pics online, thought mein gott eta: also thought the maverick would be bigger, but man it is a weeee truck I'd still buy one if I was in the market for something in that class |
