I say screw 'em.

Dear Perrymen,

Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. Thank you very much
for your feedback.

Regarding the open carry laws, Fuddruckers decision not to allow guns in
the restaurants is not a statement about gun rights or laws.  It is
however, a statement about the primary importance of creating and
maintaining a comfortable environment for all of Fuddruckers guests.

Open carry laws are changing in various states.  Therefore, restaurants
are more clearly communicating their policies to guests.  Fuddruckers
has had a no weapons policy for several years but it wasn't being
enforced in all locations. By enforcing its no-weapons policy,
Fuddruckers is enforcing its rights as a private business to create the
sort of dining environment we believe best suits and appeals to all or
the majority of our guests.

On behalf of Fuddruckers, Inc., we sincerely appreciate your time. We
are truly sorry to hear that you will no longer visit Fuddruckers.

Fair enough, it's their property, just don't eat there any more.

They even acknowledge that the OP won't be coming in any more so they must be cool with losing business.

This.

It's their business... Their burgers might be tasty but they make nothing that I couldn't make better at home.

summed up, that's about it....

I always feel like those signs on the doors are invitations to bad dudes to come on in and rob the living hell out of them. If I ever own a business I will encourage and even favor people that support the constitution.

Last month's Austin ARFCOMers dinner was at Fuddrucker's.    .

I assume that won't happen again.

A car club I belong to sometimes meets at the Fudd's in Irving TX.
I'll encourage that to cease.

OP, you should ask her if they eject police for open carrying in their restaurants then. If they have a 'no-weapons policy' and don't refuse police as well as citizens, that is selective enforcement and discrimination. What is good for the Goose is good for Gander.

I'd be interested to see what they say about this.

IMNSHO "Concealed means concealed" is silly.

Giving money to a business you know is anti-gun is worse than than the business being anti-gun.

I can open carry all day in my town and not have a problem, but drive thirty miles down the road, where guns are not normally seen, and it's a different story.

Fudruckers and other businesses put these rules in place for one reason only...the dollar.  They are convinced that their bottom line is being affected by people OPENLY carrying guns into their establishment and in a time of recession, where going out to eat is one of the first casualties, this may be a make or break decision.  You and I may not feel the least intimidated by the sight of a handful of people carrying guns, but Mr. and Mrs. Whitebread, God fearing America does.

Fudruckers and those with like opinions are not the culprits here, the American public is.  Until the MAJORITY of the customers support open carry I can not blame Fudruckers at all for their decision.   You can send all the e-mails you want, but until they are convinced that they will lose more than gain you're pissing in the wind.

Somewhere we, as gun owners, have to convince the American public it's the right thing to do and the "in-your-face/ it's my fuckin' right" mindset isn't working.

And no, i did not write them.  I am LEO, so it doesn't affect me.  I do think it's a mistake for them, however, as many have pointed out in this thread, concealed means concealed.  I'm not one of those LEO that don't understand that.

Also, I will not stop going there to eat, as I actually enjoy their food, and the bosslady likes the veggie burgers.

This is a serious question so please bear with me, but what gives a private business the right to refuse someone service for excercising their 2nd Amemdement rights but not allow that same business to refuse someone service based on their race, ethnicity or sexual preference?

Could Fuddruckers legally refuse service to white, gay, germans?

No, but they should be free to offer or refuse service to anyone for any reason.  Just like I'm free to offer my business to whomever I wish.  I wholeheartedly support their right to make what I think is a TARFU decision.
