I don’t know if it’s the best (I haven’t tried that many), but I always have some on hand and you can get different levels such as habanero, ghost, etc.  Very good stuff.

That shit is great.  It's like sriracha, but is actually hot and doesn't suck.  It's also good on eggs.  Too sweet for a lot of foods though.

As far as other readily available sauces, my choice depends on the food in question.  All the varieties of El Yucateca are good.  Tabasco Chipotle and Habanero are both good.  Valentina's is a nice milder sauce, as is Cholula.

Standard Tabasco sucks, but their jalepeno and chipotle varieties are good, and their sriracha is very good.

Cholula Chipotle followed by regular Cholula.

Herdez street sauce Rojo is also quite excellent.

Tabasco Chipotle is decent too, if a bit spicier.

Herdez has a chipotle sauce that's really good too.

Also, Cholula Chili Garlic has became our ~80% solution for hot sauce. We put it on nearly everything. Again, not 100%, but it covers a lot of stuff for us, and you can get it in bigger containers. Once you find something you like, 4 ounce jars seem like a waste of time.

So many to choose from, but goto common are are Cholula Green for a nice mild taste to most breakfast burritos or eggs over has browns.

Melinda's for scrambled eggs.

Dinosaur Devils Duels for most meats.

A little harder to find but:
Dragon Repellant Knightmare sauce for vension Mac and cheese casserole.  A little goes along way but the flavor is perfect with this dish.

Eta: Original Tobasco for popcorn amd bloody Mary

Frank's for wings

I always have a bottle of Tobasco and Saracha sauce handy. From time to time I'll test buy a bottle of something but I've never found something I use universally. If it can ignite a flamethrower, forget it. My daughter introduced me to a Thai Mango hot sauce that was really good but I can't find it locally. They live in Arizona but have spent six years in Bangladesh, Togo, Thailand, and India. They enjoy the heat more than I do. My DIL is from Malaysia and has yet to find something that is too hot for her.

It's a 20 minute pilgrimage from my driveway. I usually visit when we have out of state company over. I used to get the leftover mash for crawfish boils and the wood from old barrels to smoke with. It's a great visit because of the gardens and bird sanctuary. And, of course, the gators.

And delicious to boot. My go-to now. Be sure to warn guests though, I cook with it a good bit and usually add just a dash, but I've had a couple of friends react like they'd been fed a tablespoon of wasabi.

I agree with you. However, the local real Mexican restaurants around here offer mild by default. If you ask them for hotter, then they have it. If they don't  have it, thenthey aren't worth dining at.

For home use, I have about 3 or 4 cheap priced, but small family made ones that do just fine. Also, I'm all for those that make their own. I was taught by an old Mexican woman I know that makes a bunch of different types for her local restaurant. She showed me 2 easy ones and they are better tasting and cheaper to make than anything you can buy.

Again, if you have to add A-1 to a good steak, then the food isn't that good.  At a restaurant,  I  mix the rice and refried beans together and dump their hot salsa on that mix.

This is the way.

Edit to add:  Rummaging in the fridge and I ran across a bottle of this I'd forgotten about.  It's got a really good flavor that just hits a bit different.
