We KNOW what ya'll just elected, so forgive us if we totally ignore your advice. He's trying to warn us. Hell, the Canucks learned from our mistakes in 2008 and 2012... at least for a while. We've done these threads before (and some people rather ineloquently spam them), but Trump has changed positions as soon as it's convenient - he's just found a vein to tap and he's going for it. Supporters are casting their hopes on him as an outsider when most of the GOP field running is composed of outsiders - and more importantly outsiders who have track records. Look up Trump's opinion of the SCOTUS Kelo decision - the one that allows government to condemn and eminent domain property in order to resell it to developers in order to generate tax revenue "for the good of the community". Trump said he supported it 100% - because that's how he built businesses with govt force. Trump's just managed to tap into anger at the Republicans that's now being redirected at candidates who aren't establishment. Ben Carson and Ted Cruz aren't establishment (Cruz had to primary and incumbent out); neither are Fiorina or a half dozen others (most of whom have faded now). Trump's just cashing in on image, and he's cashing in on anger that people like Lindsey Graham and Jeb Bush certainly fucking deserve - but anger undeserved by the other candidates who really are conservative, though. It's worth it to remember who the guy is: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/265171/donald-trump-and-eminent-domain-robert-verbruggen https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2015/08/19/donald-trumps-abuse-of-eminent-domain/ |

I am so tired of people using the term fascist to describe anyone they don't like.
If you are too lazy to do some reading on your own, here are the five tenets of fascism. 1- Unlike social Darwinism in which all life is a struggle between social classes, or international socialism that believes all life can be reduced to a struggle between the owners and the proletariat, national socialism reduces all life to a struggle between race-based nation states. Like Darwinism, race-based nation states are locked in a struggle for living space, resources, etc, and the most fit will survive and thrive. 2- Under fascism, the nation state is always at war. Since the nation is never at peace, treason - real or imagined - is the ultimate crime, and there are multiple and overlapping police forces to root it out. 3- Like the Spartans, the fascist state is socialist, because all resources must be harnessed by the government to support the war effort. But this isn't international socialism, but national socialism. The industrialists still make money, there is private property rights, but there are no strikes because the state harmonizes labor and capital. 4- The fascist state is organized along the lines of corporatism. Think of a pyramid with a truncated top. There are unions, there are industrialists, as well as other guilds and bodies that compose the state, but at the top the national government arbitrates all disputes. 5- There is a dictatorship, but because there is little participatory input from the people, and because the ruling party all powerful (having suffocated civil society) the government is always unstable. Think of the all palace intrigue and jockeying for power that is going on within the party. So, in summary, you need a philosophy of a "master race" (or "chosen people"), the identification of scapegoat lesser races like the Chinese, the Jews, or the Palestinians, the transformation of a country in a Sparta-like armed camp, the transformation of the economy to a constant wartime footing, constant wars of conquest for living space/occupied territories, an unstable dictatorship, a national security state, and corporatism. Try as you might, you can't turn Trump into Tojo or Mussolini. Try making him into Lex Luthor. It might be easier. And, please, do your homework. |

If he wins, though, I'll still vote for him despite his flaws. More like a dead man switch, in case the GOPe goes Nuclear. "You go there, we ALL DIE!" Can you explain to me how that will make America great again? That's not even on the menu. We're currently just trying to stave off total collapse. |

I like Trump.
Read his book, "Art of the Deal" as a college boy. I want my country back. That's enough for me. |

Calling Trump a Fascist would imply that he has some sort of internally consistent political philosophy.
That is certainly not the case. |

Quoted: I'll admit that I believe some things that Trump says remind me of my studies long ago which spelled out what Mussolini said on his way to power. But I've not called him a Fascist only to be polite. Tonight I listened to some of the leaders of the Republican party use that word to describe Trump, including Kasich. There were others too. It seems that the grown-ups in the GOP are realizing what I realized some months ago...a vote for Trump is a vote for Hillary. OH MY GOD...HILLARY AS PRESIDENT. Give that some thought. I think he'll doom us to Hillary for 8 years. OMG. Best, LF View Quote So if the general election is Trump vs Hillary, will you vote for her or sit at home and let her win? OH MY GOD...HILLARY AS PRESIDENT. Give that some thought. |

Hear it all the time from all of you. I know you're generalizing, but I'm in favor of someone with principles they can articulate and explain. I was hoping Bill Whittle would've taken the "Virtual President" to actually running. We need someone from outide the establishment who will say what needs to be said. That would be helpful. Carson's outside the establishment. Cruz is outside the establishment (again, had to primary out the establishment in TX). We need a candidate that isn't financed by the same old donors who control them. Trump is the donor who controlled government. He gave hundreds of thousands and had Hillary at his wedding because he could. He's the rich guy who's used government to his own ends by buying them. We don't need another professional politician. Aside from Jeb (who's a loser) and Graham (if he's still running, and is also a loser), the rest aren't the traditional professional politician. Blah blah blah blah Indeed. Well look here we finally have a self made man who speaks his mind and what do you old cronies do? Bash him over and over again for being all the things you supposedly wanted in a candidate. Don't miss the first part of what so many people want - a candidate who represents their conservative/libertarian/classic liberal principles. Yeah he's loud, brash and could definitely tone the rhetoric down but at the moment he's looking like our guy so why the hell keep bashing the guy??? There are some folks going waaaay overboard on bashing him, agreed totally. Personally, I think there are a lot of people falling for Trump who if they stood back and thought about it, might find he's not the candidate they want - based on principle. The loud and brash part is certainly productive to the national discussion, though - it allows other candidates to address issues more loosely and it forces Dems to have to answer issues as well. I know of a lot of lifelong Democrat voters who like Trump but don't even know who Cruz is. It's the centric voters who sway elections and I believe Trump could do it. Hopefully. They do have quite a while to get to know even the primary candidates, however. View Quote |

Canada elected a shitbag progressive-liberal-socialist from fucking Quebec. Yeah, Canada fucked up. Big time. No argument there. NONE. Point being: Don't make the same stupid mistake that we (not I) made. I am a man determined to be free, and I voted for freedom. Seriously ask yourself: Of every viable candidate in the running, does Donald Trump best represent the idea of 'freedom' to you? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Oh and to call the guy a Fascist is ignorant. Capitalism doesn't equal Fascism and he's obviously very much a Capitalist so I guess Kasich is just talking out of his ass. Kasich is a sock puppet for the GOPe which is talking and stalking Trump through him. It seems like there are lots of the same puppets here. Look I prefer Cruz but damn why can't we stop this petty fighting inside our own party. A vote for Trump equals a vote for Hillary!?!?!? That's the biggest pile of horseshit. What in the world could make anyone of reasonable intelligence say that? In every poll he beats her in a general election. Oh you're worried he might say something that needs to be said? Damn right THEY are worried but why are you?? Trump might be a lot of things and while he isn't a true conservative, oh and BTW who the hell is these days, he's a hell of a lot closer than that fatass Christie is. I'm so sick and tired of the same old bunch of crap. Every election cycle erodes more and more of our rights and freedoms. One day it has to stop. Something has to change. You really believe some rino like Kasich will bring about real change? Or Jeb, or Rubio, or etc etc. No they will not. They are funded and controlled the same way that all the others are. |

Honestly, I'm not gonna start worrying until June or July. Right now I'm worried about the current petulant child in the White House. Cause that shit is far from over.

We're currently just trying to stave off total collapse. I don't know that Trump would run 3rd party. IIRC he said he wouldn't. Unless I misunderstand, you seem to think he would, and as an intentional strike back at the GOP... which would split the vote, elect Hillary or Bernie, and ultimately harm the country. Why would that kind of action be a desirable trait in a candidate? |

Yet they have only nice things to say about Obama. This wont hurt Trump at all. People are tired of GOP establishment bullshit.
