4" of extra barrel can definitely be a pain in the woods.

Why do you think accuracy would be effected?

Probably already been discussed but not sure why anyone would choose the scout over regular besides "tacticool".

It's louder, more abrasive when firing, and not as accurate. I don't think anyone is going to be storming an office/home environment with that weapon either so who cares about barrel length reduction. The negatives outweigh the tacticool positives.

 How very Fudd like.

Personally I prefer the shorter barrel because it's considerably easier to handle in the woods while hunting. No tacticool shit on mine whatsoever and the accuracy is more than capable for my use.

Have you contacted Wayne LaPierre about your concerns?

I do not think they are louder or more abrasive (recoil?) or less accurate. The brake cuts recoil a bit actually. The only downside to the 18" barrel over the 22" is range (velocity).

If you want a forged receiver go with the LRB Arms. Better quality than the Springfield.LRB Arms

Took my new to me rifle out the other day.  Consistently hitting 8 inch steel at 100 yards.   And 2ft steel at 300.  Very pleased.  Kinda neat 2 second or so hang time at the 300 yd range.  Using Portuguese surplus.

Replace janky commercial parts with USGI parts. Then add a suppressor and tune the gas system with a Schuster adj. M1A plug.

Then you can be Johnny Strong:

Yes Johnny Strong smokes him. Daylights End is a good zombie action film.

Yep.  I have a loaded M1.  Haven't really shot it in years.   Next time out will see how they do side by side.

Lol, M1A owners arguing about who is more Fudd like.

It’s like trying to divide by zero.

I was thinking 8 MOA targets were a bit on the big side until you mentioned that your ammo is only traveling 450 FPS.

I just suppressed mine. Had to modify the threads because sprongfield made them oversized... not impressed with springfield. But the end result is pretty cool.

No shots yet. Just put it on. So no adjustments to the gas yet.

Hoping to get out tomorrow with it. Stock riser just arrived.
