Well technically speaking. First vacation cruise.(Navy Veteran). Stop in Coco Cay and Nassau. What are the best excursions in Nassau?

It really depends on the line and length of the cruise. We did the swimming with the dolphins on salt cay when we went.

Never been on one. I hear it's basically a large floating prison where you stuff yourself with food and not much else..

My wife and I did one years ago, got off at Nassau, spent 5 minutes looking around, went back to the ship and enjoyed having the ship to ourselves. Other than that: eat a lot, relax, drink a bit. We enjoyed it. |

Smuggle on some liquor . Helpful tip. The cruise line x-rays your bags. If you buy a pint of vodka with a plastic screw top it fits perfectly in most shorts cargo pockets. You will have to walk through a metal detector .

We like coco cay.
It was rated the best private stop in the industry for a reason. The money they've spent on it is insane. Tip, the later you get off the more crowded it will be. Rc is rerouting much of the Labadee traffic to Coco Cay right now and Celebrity has started visiting recently. The food at the beach club is fantastic if you can score a sale for 40% off or more, I wouldn't pay full price. The cabanas are great if you have 4-6 people to split the cost. Nassau is the Florida man capital of the Bahamas. They have Atlantis, fake purses, overpriced jewelry, and a high crime rate. It's worth getting off and running the shopping gauntlet but we haven't found much else we enjoyed. If you get norovirus you suck at personal hygiene. Those ships are cleaner than 99% of the places you'll visit on land. That said, we tend to do breakfast and lunch in main dining most meals these days. The buffets can be a pita, people are notably less courteous today that just a couple years ago. Hope you enjoy, give us an AAR. |

I want to hear moar.
My wife and I have talked about it, but we’re not really into being packed into large crowded spaces. But we like to dance and goof around and we like to lay around doing nothing just as much. |
|
Don’t waste your time getting off the boat at port, that downtown area is a shit hole

Cruises aren’t my thing. Never been on one and don’t want to.
That being said, just have fun. Make the best of it. Half of GD won’t travel down the street so asking them is going to get shit responses. |

Last time at Nassau back in March we didn’t get off the boat. Empty ship is more fun hanging out around the pool. Coco cay is a great place to sit on the beach and enjoy a few drinks and have lunch. |

Quoted: Cruises of five nights and longer pretty much eliminate all the stereo typical complaints you read about cruises online. The three night part cruises out of Miami yeah, you may catch some world star behavior. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: I want to hear moar. If you're on a Royal Caribbean cruise, I'm happy to answer any questions you may have, if so, what ship?

Hanging out on a nearly empty boat beats most so-called excursions.
Reading a good book at the adult pool on RC or Celebrity was always a favorite for my wife and me. And reading anywhere on a Viking Ocean cruise was perfect. |

Been on one cruise. For the most part enjoyed it until I got the worst sunburn of my life, maybe more like sun poisoning.

View Quote Bon apetit! Not to mention - you can feel good about contributing to the millions of gallons of raw sewage that the cruise ships dump into the ocean the minute they get past the international water mile marker. Quadrillions of gallons - mountains of shit, piss, blood, pus, goo, etc dropped all over the marine life below. Great. Way to go. Thanks. |

Vodka mixes good with the free OJ dispenser and you can keep a nice buzz since you don't have to drive the boat |

Quoted: It is Royal Caribbean. Allure of the seas. 5 people. 3 ukrainian women, myself, and a teen boy View Quote I think cruises are fun. I’ve not heard great things about eastern Caribbean destinations, but that’s hearsay. RC was nice in my experience. Little step up in clientele from the Carnivals, but my RC cruise was on a fancier itinerary. 5 days out of Miami could get pretty trashy. |
|
The first day, boarding, sucked, and I thought that was how the rest of the cruise would be. After lunch on the second day we settled in and started enjoying ourselves. By day seven we didn’t want to leave.
We did a Carnival Caribbean cruise. |

No bahamas exp, but remember to get to port the day before, and that most things at coco key cost extra.

Follow the cruise compass. That's the itinerary they leave in your room. You have to let yourself go and join the crowd. By day two or three you'll make friends and that's when the cruise gets fun. Just treat it like a week long house party. You'll gravitate to people who are most like you. Reserve a cabana at Coco Cay. It'll help when you're tired of being in the sun. Nassau is a shithole. Call ahead and get a poolside spot at Margaritaville. It's a 20 minute walk from the port. Don't waste money on transportation just walk. It's safe. Once you get to Margaritaville just enjoy it. There's a pool, waterslides and a beach. Don't be afraid to explore beyond the resort. There'll be signs saying it's restricted. Ignore them and walk through like you own the place. Nobody cares. Drink. Let loose. Don't buy anything. Cheers.

Quoted: It is Royal Caribbean. Allure of the seas. 5 people. 3 ukrainian women, myself, and a teen boy View Quote Oasis class. Lots of amenities, but you start feeling the scale in terms of service/personal touch. Tons of activities for teens/kids on that class tho, family favorite. Deck 8 has a "central park" in the open air center of the ship lined with restaurants, shops, and a Cafe. Our favorite upcharge restaurant is central Park 150, highly recommended. Chops is so so and we dont care for Giovanni anymore. Izumi tends to be one of the best "hibachi" experiences we've had, they top beni hanas imo, sushi is decent. The Cafe on 8 is great for breakfast and lunch, most people forget it's there and it's usually not crowded, and you can grab the food and sit outside in the park. Dog house has decent brats/dogs with whatever you want. We usually do breakfast and lunch in main dining, quality is better as is the service, but it takes longer than the buffet. Buffet will have rows of sinks at the entrance and they make everyone "washee washee" before entering, but, bigger ship, controlled chaos. Sanitizer everywhere. Bar? Schooners, or the British pub on the promenade, excellent drinks, service and both have live music at might. We have grown fond of the smaller voyager and freedom class ships, they're much more personal with many of the same amenities. I could add a ton more, if you have any questions I'm happy to give my .02. |

Read what you are and are not allowed to pack. There's probably surprises.
Show up to the port city a day early and the port itself early in the day. Take motion sickness meds the first day or two. If you have specialty/upscale dining, put in your meal reservations ASAP. Know that if you buy drinks in port, you'll most likely pay the taxes/tariffs of that port. Try to figure out if/how some of the restaurant menus rotate. |
