My daughter is Type 1 diabetic, so we are a little careful with what sauce we use. I smoked a Brisket last week and we used Stubb’s low sugar. It was awesome. I also made a thin wash with it to moisten the brisket before the Crutch.

I like to try different sauces on different things but keep a bottle of John Boy and Billy's grilling sauce on hand. It's kind of a thinner sauce.

Add more pepper to taste
2 tbsp Smoked paprika 2 tbsp Sea salt 1 tsp celery salt 1 tbsp Garlic powder 2 tsp Black pepper 2-4 tsp Cayenne pepper 2 tsp Onion powder 2 tsp Dried oregano 1 tsp Ground cumin 1 tsp andro chili pepper 2 tsp granulated garlic 1 tbsp onion powder 1 tbsp chili powder 2 cups ketchup, such as Simply Heinz 1/2 cup prepared yellow mustard 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup cider vinegar 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon natural hickory liquid smoke In a medium-sized saucepan, combine all the ingredients except the liquid smoke. Bring it to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Lower the heat to low and simmer until it’s slightly thickened, 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. With a whisk, blend in the liquid smoke until it’s incorporated. |

For ribs, Montgomery Inn if you can find it. Brisket I like Rudy's and pork butt is good with Stubbs Sweet and Heat.

As long as it doesn’t contain high fructose corn syrup, you’re probably okay.

I'm a little late to the party, but try this:
BTW, you probably can use any prepared sauce, my go to is KC Masterpiece: Put some KC Masterpiece in a bowl, add in about 20% Jack Daniels and one or two teaspoons of Frank's Red Hot........... Nothing like it. |

Comes in bigger bottles, try it if you wanna pay that much |

Shaddens BBQ sauce recipe
Shaddens was a regular hangout for Levon Helm. Used to put that sauce on everything. The family still bottles the sauce and sells it at some local stores. |

Quoted: I can’t stand their regular sauce. I eat my short ends dry from there, and if I get a sandwich I have them hold the sauce so I can get the sweet heat sauce from the condiment counter. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Yep. Being in KC, Gates isn’t my favorite BBQ buts it’s my favorite sauce. I can’t stand their regular sauce. I really don't like sauce on smoked meat. |

Kosmos Q but the trick I use can take any bbq sauce to the next level.
Smoke meat with drip pan underneath Take meat drippings, mix in with bbq sauce, put sauce in the smoker for 30-60 mins before serving. Extra meaty flavor, more smoke flavor, thickens up runny sauces. Bonus: sauce doesn't cool down the meat since it's warm. |
