Shrimp!

Dark liquor.
"A lot of beer" Red meat. Above all, being dehydrated. |

I literally have no idea.
I’ve had gout flare ups for over a decade, and have NO IDEA what triggers them. It’s not alcohol It’s not beef or red meat. It’s not BBQ pork. It is not lobster/seafood. |

Shellfish , Liver , Lottsa alcohol. Which really sucks cuz I love all of the aforementioned. I hate gout .

Nothing in particular triggers my bad flare ups. Just seems to happen on occasion..maybe 2x a year. Few predisone cures it.

Shellfish (Shrimp, Crab, Lobster)
Beer Whiskey (If I have too much) BUT... I've found a cure.... Screw the steroids! I eat two of these in the morning, and two before bed. Clears me up within a few days. Tart Cherry Gummies |

If you have gout and have not tried Allopurinol - you really need to.
Go see your Doctor. |

For me it's too much red meat or certain fish. I had a really bad flare up after eating a huge Tuna melt. Gout sucks, no doubt. I normally get it in my right toe but last time was in my left knee and I could not stand at all. I have seen a video about a quick cure, 1/8th tea spoon of baking soda dissolved in water is supposed to quickly stop the pain by neutralizing the uric acid. I thought I was starting to have a flare up and tried it. I can't say for sure that it worked but I didn't have a flare up.

For people, who have no clue what's triggering their gout, should look into High Fructose Corn Syrup, which is essentially in every processed food these days in lieu of sugar. And also, of course, Orange juice and chocolates should be on your trigger list of foods.

Too much meat over a several day period. I cook out bigly. I eat a lot of red meat over those few days.
However, ACV is my preventative. |

NONE. It just happens. I am so sick of getting lectures from people when I mention that I have gout. "My second cousin 20 times removed gets an attack from eating 1/8th of a bite from a tiny shrimp. Don't eat shellfood, dont eat turkey, don't eat asparagus, don't eat pork..... It goes on and on. It's called HYPERURICEMIA. It is a metabolic disorder. Sure, certain foods can trigger an attack, but this disorder is entirely surrounded with myth and bullshit. I wonder how many people are crippled now from following the advice of wankers sitting in their living rooms. Yes, gout can cripple.

shellfish, prime rib and red wine.
Christmas to New Years meals have added up and stung me! |
|
Rare beef, asparagus, wine in huge amounts…beer not so much for me. Ditto for seafood. Basically rich foods…it’s the “King’s disease”
Had it for 20 years then saw a good doctor who lowered my Uric acid levels with drugs. Now on allopurinal 300 mg daily…no more gout. |

Well, nothing has changed on arfcom. I have been doing well for 20+ years, but I see that arfcom is still posting bullshit wive's tales. Why is gout such an odd and obscure disease? The mythology surrounding it is both sickening and amazing. Your body either produces too much Uric Acid, or doesn't eliminate it very well. THAT'S IT. Deal with either one of those. Problem solved.
I have permanent joint damage from believing the bullshit on the web. Doctors were no better (low$$$?) I figured it out on my own... |

I can point to a couple of occasions where an attack manifested a couple of days after eating something naughty, but most often it's just been sort of out of the blue. |

Dehydration is the big one for me.
Summer is okay, because I drink 2-3 quarts of water a day. Winter I start slacking, and one of my joints will send me a nastygram. Also, processed meats. Braunschweiger, bologna, hot dogs and such. Though part of that might be the salt content. See above. I quit beer a year ago after a massive, crippling attack. Not sure it was the cause, but no major flare ups since. Now I drink a lot of bourbon instead. |

Quoted: Dehydration and stress. View Quote Overdid it at the gym last Wedsday and didnt stay hydrated Thursday & Friday. By Friday afternoon I could feel it coming. Saturday I ended up on a mini vacation with the wife and walked about 8mi with mild symptoms on the top of my right foot. By Sunday morning I was in agony. Monday morning it started in my left heel. Tuesday through right now I've wanted to cut my left foot off. I went to the doctor Monday and got prescribed Colchicine 0.6mg to be picked up Monday afternoon. But the doc and the pharmacy fucked it all up and I couldnt get the prescription till today. I'm currently on the couch with an ice pack doing shallow breathing. This is the worst flare I've had in the 4-5yrs I've had gout issues. I'm already on Allopurinol 300mg and havent had a flare in about a year. This one is insane. Gout is hereditary in my family. |

Dehydration and stress but the big one is beef liver. I can have liver and onions for dinner and have an attack before bedtime.
I haven't had liver and onions in about 20 years. |

Recently diagnosed with gout and currently on a steroid pack trying to get it back under control. It appears alcohol is my trigger thus far.
Anyone have a alcohol trigger and still able to have a beer or cocktail everyone once and a blue moon? I had a margarita and two beers 2 weeks ago and my next Morning sucked as my wrist and left food were killing me |
