The National Archives Records Administration placed a “harmful content” warning on the Constitution, labeling the governing document of the United States as “harmful or difficult to view.” The warning applies to all documents across the Archives’ cataloged website, including the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence. View Quote “NARA’s records span the history of the United States, and it is our charge to preserve and make available these historical records,” the administration said in a statement. “As a result, some of the materials presented here may reflect outdated, biased, offensive, and possibly violent views and opinions. In addition, some of the materials may relate to violent or graphic events and are preserved for their historical significance.” View Quote Along with committing to diversity and equity, the NARA said it would “[work] in conjunction with diverse communities, [and] seek to balance the preservation of this history with sensitivity to how these materials are presented to and perceived by users.” View Quote |

It's still the founding document. It doesn't matter what they label it. It will be the founding document after they park the cattle cars and switch the ovens off, too.

Doesn't bode well for the future, more revisionist history incoming.
From NARA's Statement on "Potentially Harmful Content": - In the past, the National Archives has not had standards or policies to help archivists avoid harmful language. How are archivists working to address this problem and help users better understand such content? Examples include: - informing users about the presence and origin of harmful content; - revising descriptions and standardized sets of descriptive terms, supplementing description with more respectful terms, or creating new standardized terms to describe materials; - researching the problem, listening to users, experimenting with solutions, and sharing our findings with each other; - evaluating existing processes for exclusionary practices or institutional bias that prioritize one culture and/or group over another; - making an institutional commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Kinda telling when the government is telling its citizens that their own independence is “ threatening”

In a sane world, several archivists would be getting fired for cause today. We don't live in a sane world, so some archivist is probably getting a promotion instead.

I am sure somebody can put up a screenshot. ETA. I see Rustler put up a screenshot of the alert for the Declaration of Independence. It seems the government is trying to make me question their own validity. |

They can't even SJW right. They're incompetent at every level. I assume that the content warning, which does exist but not consistently, is a product of some kind of SJW thinking by the Mr. Potato Head administration, and they can't even get that right across all of their Web sites. I haven't done any Web development in the last 20 years but I assume that putting a header across every page within your domain isn't all that hard.. There are plenty of sources for images and transcripts of the founding documents, Federalist Papers, Anti-Federalist Papers, and everything else that matters. The federal government screwing things up only proves that the federal government screws things up. |
|
As much as I enjoy hating on the other guy, the headline is sensational BS.
The harmful content warning is a generic statement on the searchable database that some documents may contain offensive things. It's a "you can search, but your feelings might get hurt" statement. The statement literally appears on anything you search for, Constitution, MLK, Malcom X, Pope John Paul, The name Missouri, everything. |

Because society has been reorganized into a feminine one. And masculinity codified into the law of the land is essentially my body, my choice for men. In other words, your economic output must be coopted to benefit the hypergamy of women in a post "pill" and suffrage age.

I mean, the main gist of the DoI is that the people have the right to overthrow the government whenever it is shown to be destructive to their inalienable rights.
That's not "harmful" to anything but tyrant pieces of shit but it IS a very radical mode of thinking. Especially by the standard of modern Americans' brainwashed sensibilities. |
