I dunno, guess if you're into other forms of motor sports the name just gets around. I never watched monster trucks growing up but I knew who he was some how. View Quote Sure, his name is known to people who are fans of that sort of thing. What percent of the public do you think could tell you his name? I would bet that if you called 1000 phone numbers at random in the USA and asked, less than 1% would know his name. It's just not the type of information that the general public would find important enough to remember. |

Dale Earnhardts crash didn't look that bad either, but we know how that ended up. Dude hemorrhaged all the blood out of his head and bled out on the spot. View Quote Big testament to the improvements in safety gear. When Austin Dillon wrecked from the bottom of the track over a couple lanes of cars into the catch fence at Daytona a couple years back I was amazed he walked away from that. |

If you have never seen a monster truck show in person. You should. It's an experience. I hope that the driver pulls through.

Just drove by his shop this past weekend. Planned on taking my kids soon. I hope he makes it. People love him around here. |

I'm betting he was not harnessed in correctly.
Wish him a speedy recovery |

Play stupid games and win stupid prizes. View Quote How did I know there would be at least one, "I'm trying to be edgy but instead I'm a bitter old vagina" post in here? Kids love this stuff. Take a kid to a Monster Jam event and look beyond your small, sad world and you'll see that just because you're not into it dpesn't mean it's "stupid games." GTFO. You're just bitter because you know that if it happened to you there likely wouldn't be much of a ripple at all. |

It's too bad we have to find out this way our safety gear needs to be improved.
|

there has to have been a critical failure of something for him to get that hurt. he's done 10X worse wrecks and walked away working the crowd up
i remember seeing him at the war memorial with my uncle YEARS ago. if that sport doesn't scream 'Merica i don't know what does. |

Took my boys to monster jam in MPLS a couple times. GD'er was my youngest's fave. Have a pic on the wall in our hallway with him next to his truck.
Hope he makes a full recovery & soon. |

I'm not a monster truck fan, but unless you've been living under a rock, you know who Dennis Anderson is. He flipped the digger and landed upside down. Has massive internal injuries and bleeding. didnt hear anything about it
Anderson is one tough cookie seen him take much more abuse then that but again many of "didn't look that bad" have taken lives just as well if you "have no idea" who Anderson is he is one of the original monster truck drivers guy puts on one hell of a show no matter what it costs him real nice guy when he isnt turned up to 11 and putting on a show video of his antics in his mud truck King Sling below his seat is custom molded with a mini 5 point harness just to hold his brass balls down KING SLING 3 WHEEL FREESTYLE CRASH! |

Damn the grave digger is by far my fav truck, I still have some dirt that he threw on us from the last monster truck show ever at the king dome before they demolished it! Dennis Anderson is a legend hope he makes it through.

It's not something I'm interested in, but a buddy said we should go for yucks. It was pretty fun. View Quote I was never into it. But my son and his friends were. So we went. The kids had a fantastic time, and I had a pretty good time. We got to meet most of the drivers and get close to the trucks. I must say that everyone that I met (drivers) were really cool. It appeared that they really did enjoy meeting the fans. |

The guy said that unless you live under a rock, you would know the name of the guy driving this particular monster truck. That's a dumb statement. Damn that dude has been around forever. He drove grave digger when I was a kid. Didn't know he was still doing it.

I've got friend who owns a different truck. Says he's doing alright, he was already planning on retiring this year and letting his son take over I'm sure this cemented that decision. Dennis is old school he didn't like being jammed into the modern safety gear so that may have played a part too. View Quote That might be a big part of the issue. If he had the shoulder harnesses loose when the truck landed upside down he would have moved quite a bit inside that harness and ended up with broken collar bones when he stopped moving. |

Known about Grave Digger since I was little but never knew about the driver. 30+ years is a long time to be doing that, impressive.

You guys are slipping. Surprised no one mentioned the hottie at 3:30.

Hope he recovers, that hit didn't look that bad (from other hits and things those trucks do). Something must have broken in his harness, or been broken from one of the previous jumps. The body work is sacrificial it's meant to tear off.

Advertisements, he's basically the face of the sport but he's the only one I'd recognize. View Quote I can name only two of the trucks currently in Monster Truck whatever they call it, because they've been around practically since Monster Trucks became a thing. Big Foot and Grave Digger I can name only one driver, the one guy who's practically been a Monster Truck driver since it became an occupation. Dennis Anderson. Hope he gets well soon. |

I never even thought of monster trucks as a motor sport. It has a motor, check litmus test #2 Therefore we can conclude it's a Motor Sport. They all make their entrance (I took this video last month); Then they do racing (I took this in 2011. Ignore poor quality); Lastly they do free style, one at a time (I took this in 2007). |

First Post DOES NOT Nail It....
I grew up watching him, He a great guy and a great entertainer. Hope he comes out ok |
|
I've seen him countless times, both when I was a kid and with my son now. He is a legend and helped build Monster Jam to what it is today. Prayers that he makes a fast recovery, but I would venture to guess he is done driving the Digger. I'm sure he will still be very promenant in the sport and still make appearances because he really does live for the fans.

Yeah I guess. There is an old guy who runs around with a 60s funny car doing wheelies, glass back?
