Was this other dude also Viet? What makes you say that I'm Viet? South Arlington area bruh Plus I may know a few people.. Haha if you're Viet and from the area, I'm sure you've heard of this guy... |

Quoted: 'Boys'? All I said was that I was heading back to a friend's house after some lunch. And to everybody else, yeah my friends could have done a better job at trying to handle the situation, but I have no control over what they do. Show me who your friends are and I'll show you who you are. Do you want to end up shot because your friends are taterheads? |

Is the area known for problems? Did the cops catch up with the guy? Did your mom step on it when you yelled "gun"?

Deescalation is the operative term.
When you get your CHL, don't be flipping people off. It's not a license to act like a jackass. Quite the opposite actually. In that scenario, you provoked the behavior which makes you at least partially liable for it. No yelling, no profanity, keep you mouth shut, hands on the steering wheel, and eyes open. |

Quoted: Pretty soon, that jackass is going to win a stupid prize. Yeah. I have read this same story in the Arizona news paper twice in 2012, they both ended in the guy waving the gun getting shot. Those stories are easy to google, one was behind a walgreens, the other one was in an intersection and the guy waving the gun around like a mad man was a retired LEO . |

maybe you should be picking different friends yeah? Glad you guys cant carry for another 3 years. Maybe (and I say maybe loosely) youll grow up from this bullshit you call a problem Giving you a gun isnt a problem solver but its sure a huge responsibility that most people your age arent able to make a clear decision without all of the hormones flaring. I just wasted my life on this .......hopefully i never have to hear it from you again.

Regardless of the OPs age, post count, or weather his friends in the car in front of him flipped anyone off. I would have no trouble emptying a magazine out into someone rushing towards me in traffic with a gun. I don't know their intentions, sanity, or malice, and I'm not risking my life to find out. In the end of that scenario, there would have been witnesses and 2 sides of the story. the preparator wouldn't live to tell his. And obvious witness accounts of a guy stopping a vehicle in traffic, getting a gun out of a trunk and advancing on someone? That is an easy stand your ground situation. I personally never want to go through that situation, but I won't gamble my life or safety to find out what will happen if I didn't.
The OP did the right thing for his situation, and fortunately it turned out wellfor him. However, if there was any instigation on your part (if you flipped him off and someone witnessed that, it could be used against you in an investigation and you could get a involuntary manslaughter charge. Avoid situations all cost. ccw isn't a Rambo license, but come at me with a gun like that, and I'll bet my life on it that you'll never get the chance to shoot it. |

Those in this thread who think a better resolution of the described situation would have entailed an exchange of gunfire, as opposed to what occurred, scare me. Further, I sincerely wish they were unarmed.
No I am not advocating laws to that effect, as I'm confident they would be more of a hindrance to me than the idiots. I'm just wishing they were unarmed, because the greatest threat to my rights is idiots with guns and the things they do to stir up the gun banners and encourage their supporters. So please, for the children - if this applies to you, disarm yourself. |

Quoted: Yes in new York he who shoots at all goes to jail. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: And had you been carrying what would you have done? I don't know.....maybe defend himself if the lunatic started shooting at someone? I don't remember anywhere that he stated he would have opened fire on him for pulling the gun out or inferred that he would have done anything differently (drove away and got the fuck out there asap) than he did. Why do you guys carry? If he was of legal age, did he not have a right to defend himself from some road rage psycho if he started shooting and disabled his vehicle? Who cares if they flipped him back off.....does that warrant a gun being drawn on you? For a bunch of self proclaimed hard asses who fight for your civil liberties and the .gov not treading on you, you guys are such pussies some times. That being said I believe the law of 21 years old to ccw is just and correct. But discrediting his right to defend himself against an armed man is hypocritical. I would have done the same thing. Drive away and call the police, but I would have fired back if fired upon. He who shoots last often doesn't shoot at all And he who shoots first often does life. If its to be believed, the op had many options before a gun fight. He made the smart choice. He should continue making smart choices and get rid of those "friends" who almost led to a shoot out with a known criminal. |

Sometimes i wonder if it would maybe be the thing to do, you know all you punks just ahead shoot each other, see if i give a fuck.

On a more serious note, how many of you guys would have fired in my situation? I was pretty freaked out since the car in front of me wasn't moving at first and I was right next to him when he pulled his gun. But I still don't think I would have fired even if I had a weapon unless he had it pointed at me directly. One day when you grow older, you may just not care and move on. Most people don't have the balls to start slinging lead. Certainly not a 16 yr old kid. See, as you go through life you should be getting wiser. Learning more about your surroundings. About people. To tell when they mean business and when they don't. When to hit your own "go" button and when not to. This doesn't even rate more than a head turn. Maybe crack open a beer and kick back. |

Liberals love to dish it out, but hate if you give it back.... So they use weapons to do their dirty work for them... Mental illness....

I'm old and with old age comes experience. Nothing good ever results from hanging out with schmoes. It's really that simple. Associate with sensible people and your life will change for the better. |

Sounds like highschool asshattery on steriods. Good job on the 911 call, wonder how many others called in given where/when you say this took place? Avoiding this kind of B.S. situation should be paramount for you & 'your boys' going forward. However......
Don't forget that just because you're not old enough to CCW, doesnt mean you have no defensive capabilty push come to shove in a situation like this I.e. your vehicle is also a weapon. |

no CWL ?
you happened to be driving a very large bullet. I would suggest, as im sure nearly everyone else has [didnt read all 4 pages] that you don't hangout with friends that flip people off and make a bad situation worse. when someone flips you off, just ignore them. if your not going the whip your dick out and piss on his head then your just going about the situation half ass anyway and you may as well let it go. |

snip. It actually was Friday lol. Didn't want you guys getting on my ass about waiting a couple of days before telling yall lol. But around 5:05 I think but I am not too sure. Reported it at 5:20ish? Why do you ask? Cell phones have a wonderful invention called a call log. Look it up exactly with date and time. OP what did you learn from this? Hopefully you learned not to stop so close to people in front of you so you would have an way to escape by driving in the shoulder or grass. 4 people yet none of you took down a license plate? Bad witnesses. I bet all 4 of you had cell phones since no one under the age of 25 is born without one. None of you, in 4 separate cars called into 911 at all? Hell all 4 of you probably had iphones and could have video of him doing this. Teach your friends as well. |

Best advice of the entire thread. Hanging with careless, reactive or hotheaded people *will* mess up your life. Count on it. The young tend to think that it doesn't matter what their friends do -- "I'm my own person and my friends actions don't affect me! ". Wrong. Life Is Unfair exhibit #223: If you voluntarily are with people doing bad things, you will be judged as committing those acts yourself, regardless of whether you "did" anything. |

This is karma. Follow the wrong path, or hang out with the people that follow the wrong path, and you'll find yourself heading towards bad places and experiences. |
