I need to pick up a floor jack for misc garage / shop / house usage. I'm looking at this 4ton Harbor Freight unit.
https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive/jacks-jack-stands/floor-jacks/4-ton-professional-floor-jack-with-rapid-pump-orange-64201.html Anyone have input on this one, different HF units, or if there is another one out there that's a better value? I'm not of the opinion that I need a Snap On floor jack to use around the house. |
I have 2 of the 4 Ton units. No issues.
I got them cheaper than what's in the link. I wanna say around $179. |
The daytona 4 ton floor jacks are superb. They're made in the same factory as the Snap ons and are dang near identical.
I use them to lift heavy trucks all the time. They fixed the jack stands and they're pretty good now |
I bought that one in green about a month ago. No problems on first use.
Not sure about the 4 ton, but the DJ3000, is a direct clone of Snap On, and supposedly using the same parts suppliers
I've used a HF floor jack for over 20 years. No problems. I noticed that my local tire shop uses Daytona jacks when I was getting tires installed a few weeks ago.
I have a 3T and my dumbass lifted a truck with no issues.
Would buy again |

That jack gets mentioned a few times in this thread:

I have the OG yellow Daytona 3 ton. No issues lifting my Yukon or Durango.
I've got a long reach 3 ton. Have used it to do brake jobs on 1 ton trucks. No complaints. Like others have said it seems to be a clone of snap-on.

The Daytona by HF is tier 1. I have the 3ton low profile long reach myself.
Best Floor Jack? $1000 Snap On vs Daytona, Pittsburgh, Arcan, Black Jack, ESCO, Husky, Maasdam |
The Mexican tire shop I have been going to for years has them. The shop has 10 of them. They seem to like them.

I feel good about the purchase of my Daytona. What's the deal with the recall on HF jack stands? Does that go back awhile? I have four six ton models and any one of them should hold the weight of what I am lifting by themselves. |

Quoted: Do any of the 3 ton share that lineage? They have a nice super-duty with a 24" lift that would be nice for my tall truck. 4 ton with a 20" lift listed for $50 less though... I could probably learn to suck my belly in 4". View Quote Not all HF jacks are Snap On clones. The model that is the direct copy is the DJ3000, and uses U shaped seals, which are generally better. A bunch of the other (lesser) HF jacks use O rings. |

I bought a 3 ton red floor jack a while back after my 35 year old Craftsman jack shit the bed. I don't use it much but the few times I have used it, it worked fine.

View Quote Yup I have the aluminum ones and its great. I did make a mistake and leave it out side for a month in the rain. It got some rust on the handle to valve stuff, a quick shot with clp and a few turns and it works fine. In fact I just put front brakes on the wifes car and changed both of our oils today using it. ( bonus I installed fumato valves as well ) |

More important are the stands.
Cheap Jack Stands Dangerous? Let’s find out! Daytona, Husky, Pittsburgh, Arcan, TCE, US Jack |

View Quote When the yellow Daytona 3 ton was released, it was the only “Daytona” branded jack and that’s the one that the Snap-On lawsuit was about. With a different name, color, and slightly different shape, the judge said you couldn’t confuse one with the other. Now Daytona is a whole family of jacks and stands. |

I have a 4 ton. No issues.
I'm thinking of getting their off road jack. |

I need to get another floor jack and I was looking at those at HF.
I dont have that one but I picked up the Pittsburg aluminum 1.5 ton rapid pump a few years ago. I use the crap out of it and its been great.
I had the 4 ton when I first bought my brand new 2005 Excursion. Sum of a bitch used to cost 75 bucks

Probably the best consumer grade jack I've owned for the money. I have the three ton low profile, works great for lifting up low cars.

I have one that’s about 15-20 years old. Heavy as all get out. It’s lifted the front end of a 75hp tractor. I have the smaller aluminum one I haul when I trailer my boat. Both good buys.

3T for about 10 years. I love it. Smooth and no issues. Still works like new.
The 3ton low pro long reach is the best buy I've made in a while. Gets under my r53 mini and tall enough to lift the 100 series
GTG . The Badlands Off Road jack is also worth the investment

Mine has been great as well. |
Jacks & jack stands are two things I'd never cheap out on. My floor jacks are Hein-Werner & they're well worth the extra few $$$ over the China Freight brands.
YMMV. |
HF jacks are made in the same factory as Snap on, or so I've heard. HF has stepped their game up, it's not what it used to be. I have one of their rolling tool boxes, looks and feels as good as a matco/snap-on.
