Had to get something unstuck. Didn’t have a tow strap with me but had a thick tie down. Now I have this. It’s in there good. Took some tugging to get out the thing out of the mud.
I’ve tried putting it in a vise and pulling with pliers, screwdrivers etc. Won’t come out. What else should I do? Soak and freeze it then try to pull so it’s more ridged? Just give up and cut it and have a shorter strap? Attached File |

Phillips screwdriver,or an awl.
ETA: Or hook it around a big tree, tie to truck, and gas it! |

That’s a gimmeeknot. Wiggle it around and push in to loosen. Keep working it til it loosens.
Or get impatient and say “gimmee” that knife so I can cut that knot off. Then burn edges. |
That sucks. My OCD would not let me rest until the knot, or the whole fucking strap, was history.
Just hit it with a torch for a few minutes, should come right out.
Just buy a new one. If you used that to tow something that knot ain't coming out easy and you'll probably fray the strap all up poking at with screwdrivers and ice picks.

Life Hack | How to untie a stubborn knot |

Vaseline then seal a 5 gallon bucket, then get a vacuum and. something something

Did you tighten this by pulling on it with a truck?
I'd just use it with its new knot. |
You fucked it. You don’t tie knots in straps. Even if you get it untied, it’s still ruined.
Soak it with dishwashing liquid and then pound it with a rubber mallet on a wood block. . That's worked for me before.

Dead blow hammer. And next time use a half hitch or two. I pull stuck vehicles with the tractor all the time, using a shortened strap, and they come untied easily when I'm finished.
I have a few just like that.....
Don't bother trying to untie. Just use it as a shorter strap from now on. |

That's called a hatchet knot, it takes a hatchet to get it out.

That's something that I would just bring inside and keep beside my recliner. It would work at it with a screw driver while watching TV and eventually at some point, I would get it undone. Might not be tonight and it might not be this week, but it will loosen.

Dam. Hoping for ladies balloon knot advice. I can’t figure out how to work that either.

Would soaking and freezing it then letting it thaw loosen it?

Assuming it's nylon/polyester, it's fucked. Probably overheated by friction and melted/fused.
Learning lesson. Toss it and buy a new one. |
