He would kick Popeye's ass and when the fight was just about done he watched Popeye pull out his can of spinach.
He would then get a scared look on his face because he knew this made him stronger . A few times he even watched it work on Olive Oyl when she ate it. I'm mean what the hell it made no sense . |

Popeye had a mutation that made the spinach do that. That explains why others in his family had it.

He hates spinach, but ate it once to kick Popeye's ass in a baseball game.
Do better research, OP. |

Another question is what the hell those two saw in Olive Oyl.

They're both chasing Olive Oyl because the only other woman in town is Alice the Goon, and neither of them want to get pegged by Alice the Goon.

Big Spinich propaganda. Follow the money. Also, kick backs from the olive oil growers unions in Italy.

Because he knew that spinach having a high iron content was fraudulent and based on a misplaced decimal point.

If Bluto ate the spinach, would that crazy music start to play as his hands turned into jackhammers and the ship tattoo on his chest started to fire its guns? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Just saying: you know that was a cartoon, right? It was not real life. There was some comedy to it and unfortunately not everything on TV or the movies is real.
Popeye being a Coastie, now that was real though. His forearms are huge from working and splicing lines. He was a Bosun's mate or deck ape. |

No idea, but I do know that show made it easier for my mom to get me to eat spinach as a child.
Still like eating it as an adult too. |

Why didn't he carry a pistol and just cap Popeye in the back of the head when we wasn't looking or was sleeping?
Quick, simple and easy without all that other mumbo jumbo. |

My neighbor Down the street looks just like Bluto. Big, dark haired, beard, everything. In fact he is the Bosun on a govt owned cargo ship as well.
He is the real life Bluto. |
