When I make it from scratch I put some scallion, tamari (a type of soy sauce), and some black pepper. Sometimes add onions and hot sauce too.

Thiccy thic. Scoop of chocolate protein powder and spoonful of peanut butter.
|
|
Steel cut, thick with some walnuts and/or berries.
I miss it as a hearty meal on a cold day, now it's keto granola. |
|
thin/runny with raisins, blueberries and walnuts
or substitute blueberries for Black Raspberries |
|
Unsweetened, add peanut butter.
Sometimes also add bananas and pecans, too. |
|
A little bit of erythritol/monkfruit sweetener and cinnamon. Occasionally I'll add a little butter.
It's funny how people think oatmeal is healthy then load it up with massive amounts of sugar and other unhealthy shit. |

With a side of grits, bacon and fried eggs. Hold the oatmeal.
|
|
1 cup oats
1-2 cups water microwave for 2:30 add strawberries and blueberries |
|
Slightly thick with real milk and a pinch of brown sugar or a dollop of honey.

Oatmeal is a delivery system for other stuff that tases good.
No different than mush, porridge, malt o meal, grits, or any other disgusting food you have to load up with spices and sweeteners to choke down to make a turd. |

Old fashioned rolled oats, cold unsweetened oat milk, and a bit of hot cocoa powder or honey.
|

Steel cut. Little salt and pepper. Two eggs fried in hot bacon grease, so the edges are crispy, over medium. Dump eggs and grease on top of oats.
Or thick rolled and cooked with dates, dried apples, walnuts, pecans or whatever else fruit and nut is available. Thick rolled, add home made wheat toast, butter, peanut butter. I like oats pretty much any way. |

|
Steel cut, uncooked "overnight oats."
1 part oats, 1.25 parts milk, salt. Stir it up and let it sit in the fridge for a day. Two days is better. I like it with blueberries and honey, or just dollops of apple butter. |
|
Steel cut, a little milk, natural honey (sometimes some brown sugar instead of honey)

I hate oatmeal.
I can stand it with lots of butter and cinnamon, but why? Food for livestock, not people. |

View Quote Good, steel cut oats are tasty by themselves with little salt and some form of fat. Fresh ground hominy, same. If you let your palate go back to being satiated without all the added shit, you can appreciate the simple flavors for what they are. We've been making bread from fresh ground wheat berries. The sublime, simple flavor of just that by itself is special. |

Non rolled with coconut milk, non sweet coconut flakes, pecans, splash of maple syrup.
Summer its whatever berries I can afford. |

Old fashioned oats with strawberries, blueberries, and a bit of honey. Usually make it with mix of water and almond milk. Sometimes regular milk.
|
|
Malted, then fermented with corn for a couple weeks, drained and the liquid distilled.
The only true way to properly consume oats... |
|
Quaker Old Fashioned, boiling water, mixed in a bowl, then into microwave for 60 seconds. After cooking in MW, cover on top for steaming for 4 minutes.
Then sweet-n-low, some cinnamon and a few teaspoons of coffee-mate creamer. Maybe some honey. Taste great this way, nothing fancy and I dont need to order any exotic seasoning from Sumatra like a lot of GD'ers will have to do |

My wife makes steel cut oats in the insta pot. Oatmeal, diced apple, and some cinnamon. I put a little milk on it and eat it warm.
