There's a couple hidden gems in this thread like doorlys and botron that are much cheaper but have as good or better taste as more known brands like flor de cana and cruzan. And when you have some of these excellent rums you will realize how bad Bacardi actually tastes.

I didn't think rum was for anything but mixing until I had flor de Cana years ago which started me down a path of trying good rum

Found Cross Keys 5 Year Barbados rum on sale a few weeks ago.
Delicious stuff. Maybe as good as Plantation 5 Year, which is maybe as good as Shellback. |

Me and my roommate about 5 years ago put down the equivalent of a 55 gallon drum of kraken in the span of about 1 year. Idk how the fuck my liver didn't fall the fuck out of my body.

As far as I know, The Bahamas aren’t particularly known for producing fine Rum but you can typically buy any good Rum from The Caribbean, Central or South America while you’re there. I wanted to try a true Bahamian Rum and bought a bottle of this, my last time in Nassau. It’s…not good. Basically 40% rubbing alcohol with a little molasses added to it for color. Still, I’ll finish the bottle.  Attached FileMy Wife accused me of buying it simply because it had “Gun” in the name and a cannon on the label  She’s probably right
