OP your question is too open-ended.

What price are you willing to pay?
What features do you need?
What MPG do you want?
How fast does it need to be?

Otherwise everyone is just throwing darts in the dark.

Haven't you watched The Italian Job?
Cool looking and they look like fun to drive but I hear they don't make it to 100K miles.

No shit one of my best friends ever and quite the manly man himself has that exact car. He got a hell of a deal because it’s such a disgusting color and 50 or 60 miles a gallon or whatever he’s getting makes him happy. Plus you never have to worry about it getting stolen.

The only downside is they are cat converter thief targets.

I built one out on the website the other day and they have a cat shield option. Pure clown world that’s a thing.

Last year I replaced my HVAC system, one of the companies I got quotes from offered a cage for the outside unit as an option. Same reasoning as the cat shield, damn shame you even have to consider it.

I would drive a John Cooper Works Mini. They're fairly popular in US rallycross (I'm guessing due to price of used Minis) but not stage rally.  Also believe they are the car I've seen break on course the most.  I looked into buying one at one point, I think I'd skip it if you want a reliable commuter car.  The also range from slow (base model) to not especially quick (s trim).

My Ram 1500 has the 5.7 liter Hemi engine- it's a sweet powerplant.

Any car that has the 5.7 liter hemi and the ZF 8-speed auto would be awesome for commuting, but probably not super-awesome on fuel. :)

Especially if you slapped a mild exhaust system on it.

Fiesta ST. Mine makes north of 300 hp to the wheels and weighs in at just over 2800 pounds. If I am light on the gas I get mid 40s mpg.

That's the thing about my Platinum Sequoia. All the bells n whistles with comfort style and a really nice audio system but 2.5 tanks of gas a week is no fun.

Ford should have never stopped selling those here. They are still in the European and other foreign markets but no new models in the US since 2019. That's the kind of car you know has probably been run hard so finding a good used one would be difficult.

Those do look good.  I went and drove one a while back.  It was very disappointing.  You’d think it would be somewhat quick but it was not.  You’d think the tranny wouldn’t be mushy but you’d be wrong.

Yes, it’s still a Camry in most of the ways that actually matter.

Fun Toyotas exist, but they have GR badges.

GR86 is a pretty good choice here.
