I mentioned this in the other Wall thread. So, what happened to the testing where they had contractors provide their proposed Wall sections and they settled on the one that some Special Forces troops could not scale. It's obviously not this goofy fence, that, as you stated and I noted in the other thread, is easily defeated by someone throwing a grappling hook with a rope attached.

Them Mexican ninjas would be a problem regardless of wall design
|
|
If it were my design that would be where the electrified cable goes.
|
|
I'd bet one in fifty could climb that fence with a rope and grappling hook.
|
|
The first thing it would be is 5 miles further south, on a piece of US-controlled territory that used to belong to Mexico.
Think of all of the military bases, federal prisons, bombing and artillery ranges, and the like we could put there... |
|
The hard part is not the grappling up... it's the rappelling down.
Still, the design shown is terrible. |

View Quote But even considering that a few able-bodied people could get rope ladders and such into place for others to climb, the wall will slow the firehose to a kitchen faucet. Especially if the wall is monitored/patrolled. A constructed way over isn't going to stay hidden long. ICE and other measures can more easily handle more of the ones that can manage to get over it and spend more time looking for tunnels, vehicle smuggling, and other means to circumvent it. 90% effective is a hell of a lot better than zero. |

So we are building two walls now? Well if we have that kind of money why not just dig a deeper trench instead of a wall. Fill trench with lions like the zoo. Or gators. Or Burmese pythons. Or all of the above. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

I've always wondered how many miles of border wall we could construct with the equivalent amount of Alaska and Texas barriers used in base construction in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Those uprights are iron, right?
I'm sure they have cutting torches in Mexico. Just cut a 3'- 4' length out of one or even two of the uprights and they could march a whole caravan through there before anyone knew what was going on. Cut an even bigger section out and they could drive through. |

Israel has only a few sections of the concrete fortress walls, only in key areas where preventing line of sight to rifle fire outweighs the cost, and limiting their ability to see out except for the towers.
Everywhere else on earth that has a long border to protect generally uses multiple layers, much less expensive double or triple fencing with razor wire, a patrol road between them, and puts the cost savings towards patrols and sensors. |

Don't forget the moat. We need it for the sharks with frickin' laser beams on their heads.

All a waste of time, talk and money. If you turn off the magnets here (free healthcare, education, welfare etc...) and heavily penalize violators, no physical wall is needed.

I always imagined a concrete wall (actually two) that were in a "V" shape and 35 to 40 ft high.
In the middle of the "V" are 10 ft tall pointed iron bars. Also the "V" has an opposing face which would be hard to climb. If you did make it to the top, you'd have to span the 25 ft to the top of the other side of the "V" or fall in the middle and be speared by the sharpened iron bars below. |

Simple. 35' tall, concrete with the cross section of the top looking like an inverted light bulb. Nothing to hook to and a reverse slope at the top.

Needs a lot of sharp angle cut rebar welded at odd pointy angles around the top, leave a few skeletons impaled in a few places as a warning. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d7/f2/79/d7f279145a0868c68e9816d9186b2e89.jpg View Quote Nothing says 'Cross these borders at ye own peril' better than impaled heads/skulls with rotting flesh for the ravens and vultures to pick at. Maybe even put sombreros on some of them for added visual effect. |
