I remember those days. Skating at the local rink, playing pinball while waiting for the next "couples' skate" to come around.

Damn, I'd love to have a pinball machine. Kinda pricey It depends The pre-1977 electro-mechanical pins are practically free because nobody can keep them running The post-1977 solid-state games run from a few hundred all the way up to $10,000 70s solid state pins are very simple and slow-playing, I don't like them. The collectors all want the 1990s Bally-Williams. Those games are the pinnacle of pinball in terms of art and gameplay. The 80s pinballs are less desired but are still great games. A classic 90s pin like Addams Family is going to run you around $5000 to $7000 A classic 80s pin like Williams High Speed is going to be around $1500 The nice thing is that the games don't lose value. I paid $2500 for my Twilight Zone, I could sell it for $6000 easy. So it's hard to go wrong. check this out, a pretty decent price guide - http://www.bostonpinball.biz/ebay0516.htm I am curious if you have seen a 90's pinball machine based on a riverboat theme ? like this? http://ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=1966 |

I remember back then. we had some cool cars, far less rules, no political correctness and cops were not the enemy.
We cruised around in 69 Grand Prix, 75 Trans Am and 68 Mustang. Got pulled over once, I was 18, with my 17 y/o fiend and 2 16 y/o girls, all with open plastic cups of beer from the party we just left. Doing 55 on a residential street. Cops asks why I'm driving so fast. I tell him just trying to keep up with my friend heading to the next party. Cop says, "well damn it, slow down!" then leaves... I miss those days. |

The Blizzard of '78 was memorable. The front of our house had snow all the way to the roofline so my brother and I climbed out on the roof to sled off the roof of the house.
My old man arrived in his VW Beetle (a good car in the snow, but the inside windshield defroster was useless so you had to use an ice scraper as you drove down the road). He said Route 128 was a war zone and there were abandoned vehicles all over. He went inside, had a stiff drink (probably) and then popped out to yell at us to not rip the gutters off the house. You could leap off and disappear completely into the snow drift. It was a hoot. Then we were drafted to dig tunnels (really) from the front door to the driveway to clear a lane for a fire escape. The size of the drifts were incredible. Good times, man. |

The average car sucked, the clothes sucked, everything pretty much sucked and nostalgia has a way of glossing over all that sucked. The late 70's are just suck. Disco, crappy music and bad hair. 70s Flashback:
Galliano is now sold in small "nip" sizes. You don't have to buy a big bottle of Galliano anymore, which means it is time to dust off your Harvey Wallbanger recipe: Traditionally it is 3 parts vodka, 1 part Galliano, 6 parts orange juice. Garnish with orange slice and a marischino cherry. Stir with a coke spoon. Personally I prefer only a hint of Galliano, but that is me. Stay Groovy, My Friends. |

Chicks shave their vagina's now. No reason to go backwards to a worse time. View Quote Plenty of reasons. If "chicks shaving their vagina's" is your only criteria on judging an era, you should grow up some. AND, the women were a little different then. The clothes they wore were sexy without being slutty. Mini skirts were hot. Women wore way less make-up and you got a good idea what they would look like "in the morning" VS. today when make-up can momentarily transform a dog into something more attractive. No severe stupid haircuts...... long natural hair was pretty much the norm. No "look at me" purple and green hair. No stupid piercings or anything to screw up a nice face. Women acted like women and they didn't have anything to prove. Plenty of natural wholesome beauty on display. No freaks and geeks like you see today. That's just a little about the women. Everything else was way better too. Society, general well being, most of the country didn't lock their homes or cars, no political correctness with dozens of new "genders" being created, etc. It was a MUCH better time for our country in every way. Only low point was the Presidency of Carter. |
