Really? A gun op? I rig my entire home to explode with IEDs which will activate upon any change in weight applied to the homes foundation every night before bed. It’s really the only way to be sure you’ll win.

Question being what gun for inside the house home defense weapon. One answer was: the one I can afford to lose to an evidence room after a self-defense shooting. Meaning to me: I will choose a weapon for using inside the house that won't leave me without a gun afterwards. I'm not going to drop $2k in a single rifle if that's all I can afford. If my budget is $2k, I'll use a $1k rifle and have 2 of them. If I'm a college student and my budget is $1k, I'm buying two $500 guns. Because I can't afford to lose my only gun after a self-defense shooting. |

I'm grabbing my tranquilizer gun. I don't want to have to kill anybody. Bonus is that you can then carry them down into your basement and tie them up and then keep them there and make them be your new friend.

If the choice is between an intermediate rifle cartridge and a pistol cartridge in a rifle size package, I’ll take the rifle cartridge. Bonus points go to the rifle bullets for destabilizing more easily than pistol bullets in common wall construction materials. YMMV |
