Beautiful vehicle regardless of whether it is a real Ferrari or a kit car. Unless it has a documented history as a track car with that number, I think I would want it without the number on it. However, if it is a documented track car, I can certainly understand leaving it in it's original configuration.

There were only (4) made. Chassis' #0846, #0856, #0858, and #0860.
That said, David Piper, a Ferrari privateer from the period ended up owning enough spare 330 P4 parts that he convinced Ferrari to give him the technical drawings so he could assemble one (chassis #0900). Sort of snuck up behind a 308 GTB on a mostly deserted, rolling two lane in the country outside Chapel Hill. Blew by him in my mother's 280 SE 4.5 with my buddy and our girlfriends in the car. Guy laughed as we went by...
...about a mile later I saw that thing get very big, very fast in my rearview. He howled past us at well over 100 mph. Pretty freakin' awesome with the window's down. |
