Quoted: Before we get into details I must preface that this is not a daily driver. It's a third vehicle and a weekend toy only. Back in August I got the bug for a Jeep JK Rubicon. The dealer had a base model in black for the sticker price of $33k but sold it to me for $29k. Got 3.9% for the amount financed of $32,634. Long story short, the black paint was driving me nuts as its hard to keep clean and shows every imperfection. The soft top was something else I came to dislike too. What I really wanted was a Billet silver base model Rubicon (JK) with a hard top. Started shopping around and last weekend I found the same dealer had exactly what I wanted! A Billet silver Base model Rubicon with a hardtop. Sticker price was $35k. Payoff for the black rubi was $31,453. They gave me $25k for it. Total financed for the trade and new rubi was $37,300 at 3.39%. How'd I do? View Quote I'm no car salesman but I'm going to go with bad. And if having a perfect paint job is important to you then maybe a Rubi isn't your best option. |

on a side note, i want pictures of silver jeep, this is basically the starting point for what i want

Used, 1 year old, low mileage, let someone else take the big hit.
I've never paid that much for a car in my life. Like the other guy said, your life, your choice. |

You just did to a jeep what idiots did to the housing market. You are upside down.
You got fucked.....Hope you decide to keep that Jeep until the wheels fall off as if you trade it on something else, you're going to be fucked harder.
You owe more than the sticker price of the vehicle. I'm not a salesman, but part of me would honestly love to sell you one of my cars. Can I get you some coffee?
Wow, yes you did badly. You NEVER roll negative equity into a new car loan. You're now stuck upside down pretty much until you pay off the loan. Better hope you don't hit hard times financially because there will be no getting away from that car payment.

Dana 44s and lockers.....this isn't my first rodeo The color and soft top wasn't cuttin it. I have a silver Jetta that hasn't been washed in almost a year and you cant tell. The hard top is quieter and more robust in my opinion. |

Considering what they gave you for your trade in you did alright on the deal. I wouldn't make a habit of getting negative equity but it could have certainly been much worse.
You did great. You're probably in the oil business too so what could possibly go wrong
If you're happy with the deal that's all that matters.
You are upside down in your new jeep because of your old one. You knew that already. |
It's a common story. Usually it's told a bit differently. More like "You'll never guess the idiotic shit my buddy's wife did."
Did the finance guy high five the sales guy as you walked out?
Buying new cars and never washing them. This seems like a sound strategy.
LoL..Upside down in a new jeep along with financing a 3rd (not needed) vehicle.

View Quote Yeah pretty much, and I was willing to absorb the extra cost to get what I wanted in the end. Selling the first jeep then buying the new would have been ideal. But overall I'm happy with the payments and the changeup. The first jeep was a pretty damn good deal to begin with. |
