Then a Starbucks like chain started up there, called Beaner's, which was an obvious reference to coffee beans. When the chain started expanding, a marketing genius said they had to change the name if they opened any stores in Illinois. I always believed that no Mexican would care if somebody appropriated the name beaner and put it on a storefront. If I were Mexican, I'd rather have you call a store that instead of calling me that. |
