I don't shoot XTC or F-Class and honestly I would suck if I did; I just don't have the mental discipline. We only do shortened COF stuff around here. I just see enough damage from cleaning barrels that I'm a believer in not doing it except when absolutely needed. So sure, run a bore snake down the barrel of your field gun when you get done hunting to keep rust out but otherwise just let a gun's barrel foul in and shoot the thing. We see plenty of guys chasing a wandering zero after they clean a barrel and it has to re-foul, also. For some of these guns that are going to have a 1000-1500 round barrel life (belted magnum stuff) I can't imagine wasting 2/3 of those just trying to re-zero after a cleaning.
Maybe other guys have had completely different experience but that's mine.
