Can somebody explain the US ranking? The table is arranged in decreasing order of BMI. But the US is a number "2" but is located down between "15" and "17".
I don't understand that. If we are "2", we should be near the top of the table . . . no? Be sure to check out the mean US female BMI number (BMI = 2) as compared to the US male BMI number (BMI = 28.8). Me thinks somebody at Wikipedia has been messing with the US data. [Shocking, huh?] But I am sort of surprised at some of the countries ranking. And I never heard of 90% of the countries. List of countries by body mass index (I also do not understand how "Insert Table" works in an AR15.com post.) |

Ethiopia is almost dead last. I might be going to hell, but that made me chuckle a bit.

BMI is a bunch of BS for anyone that is remotely in shape. Drives me crazy because it caters to soy boys.
The again most people aren’t... |

Yeah, I don't thnk you can have a BMI of 2.
A Karen put that together. And decided to Karen. |

BMI charts lol
I have been well in to the Obese most of my life by those charts...... Obese, I am not.... |

BMI is a fundamentally flawed measure of health, but that doesn’t change the fact that way too many Americans are embarrassingly fat.
|

Most of the world is getting fat. It is amazing how it has changed in my lifetime.

According to the BMI table a person 6’ tall is overweight at 185 pounds. I bet 90% of people who are 6’ in the US are over 185.

Regardless of the feels of ARF concerning BMI, I would stop trusting editable Wikis. Or at least look at their reference material. World Health Organization in this case.

You're what, 40 or 50 years old, and you've never seen a data entry typo?

Body fat is where it is at! I should try and get a good measurement.

US men are about 28.5 average, women are about the same.
This stretches credulity but here's the source - scroll about 1/3 the way down. |

Average US female BMI is around 29.3: 5'4', 171 pounds. And that was 4 years ago. Going to guess it has worsened since.

I found a giant WHO database on BMI but I never could find any WHO data similar to what Wikipedia references. |

A breakdown by ethnicity in the US might be interesting . . . seeing as how obesity is a factor with Covid-19 and blacks seem to have a disproportionate rate of infection/death. |

I understand that muscle weighs and muscle is good, but I think lots men in the US use "soy boy" as an excuse to justify the fact that they are in fact, fat. The view has become so skewed that having a gut that isn't flat and sides that stick out instead of flat or V shaped, is incorrectly viewed as "healthy" for a man. |

I’m in excellent physical shape, bike and resistance train a lot. The idiots we hired on to do wellness checks at my company do all the measurements, and then plug the numbers, send me to another table to discuss the numbers with a “health coach” The health coach explains the numbers to me and then says “have you considered changing your eating habits”? After explaining BMI. I fucking laughed out loud and asked if she was serious. Then I told her no, other than I need to eat more. She couldn’t understand why I wasn’t concerned about my BMI. |
