If it was up to me, my airline would have a dress code similar to high-end restaurants.

And there is an exceedingly low chance a passenger was the one that complained. If I had to bet, it was a gate agent that saw it and upheld our dress code. Any Delta employee could've seen it and got that ball rolling. I've done it myself. Walk up to the gate in uniform, waiting behind the gate to get scanned on, and I see some piece of shit wearing a black sweatshirt with huge, white block lettering saying "FUCK THE POLICE". I looked right at the red coat standing behind the gate and said "You can feel free to deny that person boarding because I'm not flying them with that language visible on their sweatshirt. Handle it however you like now." After boarding was complete, I walked back to the L2 door where the same red coat was now standing. I inquired about our trashy guest and she said they turned it inside out and we're permitted to board. Being suspicious, I took a stroll to the aft galley/crew rest area as I scanned the people over. Sure enough, there she was. Sitting in her seat with her sweatshirt inside out. She complied with our minimalistic dress code and she flew. Done!

For all you that think that's unfair, try to imagine going to a really nice 5 star Michelin rated restaurant. Something where it's going to be $500/plate or thereabouts. Wine or cocktail pairings with each of the 12 courses. Such places will sometimes have dress codes. Is the restaurant within their rights to insist on men wearing a collared shirt and a tie? What about shoes? Can they insist on you wearing shoes? Or not reeking of BO? We don't give a shit about political speech. Wear it all you want. The part that'll get you booted is offensive language, sexually explicit language, etc. Our company has the right to set such standards just as you would if you owned and operated your own company. This is not some novel legal theory. It's well established.

It's a low goddamn bar to set and if you can't handle it then go fly on a ultra low-cost carrier that won't bat an eye at that shit. If we don't set some minimal standard of decency, then some of you will absolutely push things further than even the lowest trash could imagine.

Of course we do. It's just that that type of clientele doesn't usually go for Delta because, on average, we're the most expensive airline in the US. Last I heard, on average, we're 17 cents per dollar more expensive than the other airlines. But on the rare occasion that someone attempts to board causing a loud commotion or is inappropriately dressed with their ass literally hanging out, then yes. We'll exercise our right to deny you service and will happily refund your ticket.

I'm looking at flights for January and was sorting by Delta only.

My wife said "Why not filter all airlines"

I asked her if she remembered our Breeze flight compared to the Delta we returned home on last time.

Well at least he got the attention he was so desperately seeking.  He was given the option to turn the shirt inside out, but shortly after takeoff he had turned it back to the display side...so he was obviously just hoping to get a rise out of people.  So I have no sympathy for him.

So there was this one time, I was hung over.

I was flying out of San Diego. Had some business on the island with all the idiots who think they are seals.

Anyway, I booked a flight home and before we left the gate I had a sturadess call me out.

Now, I was in first class. And had a ham planet next to me, masked up of course.

I get to the cockpit and the captain asks if there are going to be any problems. I said no I just want to go home. He gives the OK to let me back. Hung over and barely alive.

So once we leave the ground I know two others on the flight. One was a Marshall and he was laughing at me. The other was a coworker wondering wtf I did to stir the airline up.

Anyways, me being me I chatted up the fatty next door. She was a super liberal.  2023 and still masked up. I took her to task on the mask.

When the bev cart came around because it was a red eye flight, I asked for a beer. Denied. My head hung in sadden despair.

She said "yeah first class is free drinks, but the captain cut you off" I was shook. I haven't had a drink on this flight.

want to wear that at your favorite dive bar fine

an airplane is full of families and kids

then to top it off he reversed his shirt to show it again after he got on board

And calling them retarded and pussies is exactly the approach that pushes them to vote D. You don't have to like people, or even respect them, but the 'retarded pussy' vote is large and will easily be swayed into electing our next president.

Ignoring bad optics almost ensures that will be Harris. I don't think you will be using the laughing rolling emoji much then. Then again, maybe you will.

First off. You're confused. This isn't corporate love. This is us taking pride in what we do for a living and demanding that our customers reflect a minimal amount of that respect. If you're wearing that shit, you're disrespecting me. Not Ed Bastian. This isnt me kissing Delta's ass. This is me respecting myself, and those of my coworkers and passengers that also want a minimal degree of respect.
As for the BLM bullshit. We pilots were fucking merciless on the company in every company survey they'd send out to us. It was a topic of heated conversation in every flight deck, crew room, and layover. We didn't hesitate to let our chief pilot's know exactly how we felt over that. I'm not saying who, but I know for an absolute fact that some pilots, when passing through ops, would see that bowl of free BLM pins and grab a handful on the way out just to throw them in the trash outside of ops. We hated that shit because we didn't want our company supporting a terrorist organization. That sullies OUR uniform and what it's supposed to stand for, not Ed Bastian's business suit. It didn't go against our corporate policy of avoiding foul language and the like but it was such an obviously negative message that many of us took action in our own way. We're still stuck with a certain degree of the DEI bullshit unfortunately. Nonetheless, the BLM shit is finally gone, and not a day too soon though it never should've happened.

Far too many people think that freedom means they have the right to "do whatever the fuck I want, wherever, and whenever I want," not realizing that no one is saying he can't wear that shirt. Delta is just saying you can't wear that shirt on their plane. That is their right on their plane. Just like he could kick them out of his property for wearing the wrong shirt.
You know, freedom.

Snowflakes have a tough time with that part of freedom.

My expectations of my passengers isn't so demanding. Ideally, I'd like them to dress casually and comfortably in clean clothes appropriate for the time of year. If we have to reject a takeoff in Minneapolis in the winter time and end up going off the end of the runway, I'd prefer to not see people walking through the snow in flip-flops and booty-shorts because it was going to be nice in Florida that day. Be fucking prepared, people.

Men used to dress in a manner that showed their basic respect for themselves and the larger society around them.  And wear a proper hat.

My personal favorite is watching Trump supporters wearing blue line flags as capes and dance to RATM "Killing in the name of" at his rallies.

My question is this:  If it were a BLM or rainbow people shirt, would that person also have been kicked off the flight?  We all know the answer to that... no.

Again, does the BLM or rainbow people shirt have vulgar words and/or signs on it? I see folks on planes all the time with MAGA or Trump stuff. They aren’t getting booted, of course their shirts don’t say “hawk tuah” and have middle fingers.
