AccuWeather meteorologists are tracking several large clouds of dust from Africa's Sahara Desert that are currently drifting over the Atlantic Ocean. The immense clouds have the potential to traverse the entire ocean and reduce air quality across the Caribbean and the southeastern United States in the coming days. The Saharan dust is so dense and widespread that it could be seen from space on Thursday. NOAA's GOES-EAST weather satellite spotted the first cloud of dust over the eastern Caribbean Sea and the Lesser Antilles, with an even bigger plume of dust emerging off the coast of Africa. https://www.yahoo.com/news/massive-dust-cloud-heading-toward-190537372.html |

Semi Regular event. Mostly nothing burger. People with sensitive lungs might have discomfort.

We are all going to die!
Probably not from this, but we’re all going to die. |
On the plus side, the dust clouds usually hinder any tropical storm development...
I was on a photo shoot in the Caribbean when one of these events happened. No blue skies for two weeks, just gray like smog
Maybe the dust will dim the sky and cool us off.
Gots outside stuff that needs done. |

Boy, if African dust can make it all the way over here, I wonder what could be dropped from a ballon floating over the U.S….

There's a Shit Cloud Coming |
I guess I need to stay inside, close the doors and windows and turn on the a/c.

Normal for this time of year = nothing burger = help suppress hurricanes = WGAS
It comes every year. Some years are worse than others but it is mostly meaningless.
Most people are not aware (because it is normal) of the Haze they live in, in any urban or near urban area. Because of that, this is usually not even noticeable. However, some years it sure turns the sky an unusual and very noticeable shade of tan. This can make for interesting sunlight and sunsets. |

Will it push the communist canadian fire smoke back to where it belongs? If so, bring it on!
Don't hold your breath. Strong possibility it will arrive late or procrastinate in getting here. Hell chances are it will never get here. A strong front may lock it up and never see the day of light.
I remember hearing that in past years. Still seems like a crazy thing to happen. I thought the smoke from Canada was far.

You know, I was feeling a little left out of this Canadian forest fire thing. Thank you, Africa.
I don't know if they are related, but my pool gets nasty and has hard to fight algae growth when the saharan dust years are worse.
Great this means we will more than likely get a red tide bloom and it is going to stink at work.

I used to inspect yachts under construction in Italy. That dust was ruinous to yachts outside because it would stain the white exterior caulking orange. The builder would often have to reef it out and do it again if it was bad enough.
Man, slow news year. Must not be any new virus or murder hornets. Best they can do is African Dust Cloud.
Welcome to the party pal. More wildfire smoke may be on the way in the upper Midwest and New England.

biden needs to get on tv, declare an emergency. everyone required to stay in doors and wear masks if they must go out.
for at least two weeks. |

I initially read the title as, “Massive African Studies crowd to impact United States”, and thought it was a commentary on the growth of that degree field. I didn’t realize it was that large of a degree field, nor that it could impact the whole country. Then I realized I read it wrong.

It is hard to imagine conditions in Haiti getting worse.
But, they just did. The much thicker dust cloud is behind this one - https://www.myfoxhurricane.com/saharan_dust_car.html |

Between pollen and dust it gets hard to keep vehicles clean here.

Snow Mexicans attacking the north, Africa attacking the south. Must be climate change
Fuck! First it’s Canadian smoke, now African dust!
What’s next, South American marching powder? |
