Growing up my mother had three spices in the kitchen that were used for very nearly everything-salt, pepper, and Miracle Whip.
MW trivia-it was developed as a low cost alternative to mayonaise during the depression. When I scramble eggs I add a tablespoon or so of Miracle Whip to the mix. Some salt, pepper, and a big dollop of Slap ya Mama. Best scrambled eggs ever. |

Mayo is Miracle Whip with all the flavor and goodness removed.

I know many of you will disagree but IMO miracle whip makes BLTs so much tastier when used in place of mayo. Same goes for egg salad sandwiches. Don't get me wrong, I like mayo, but certain things are just so much tastier with MW. View Quote |

I grew up with Miracle Whip. It is a bit tangy, which to me, is better than bland mayo. Don't get me wrong, there is some damn good Southern mayo out there, but I can't get it in my local stores.
I just made up a batch of tuna and egg spread for sammiches with MW. I will be having a couple of them for lunch. |

I grew up with Miracle Whip.
The first time I tasted Mayo, there was no looking back. It was also the first time I realized my mother could be WRONG. |

I enjoy miricle whip. It is indeed best for bacon sandwiches.
Add sweet relish instead of dill and make the best deviled eggs in the world. Haters gonna hate. |

The best egg salad is made with mayo, dill, celery seed, white pepper, and minced onion. Same with tuna salad. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

They must not sell Duke's down here on the Coast. Never tried it. Miracle Whip? Not for me. Too sweet. Hellman's tastes like the real mayo my Grandma used to make and is my fav for BLT.

What kind of a heathen Commie bastard would contaminate their prescious bodily fluids with Miracle Wip?
The heathen Commie that started this thread obviously, it was a rhetorical question. Talk about your preverted preversions |

I wish it was easier to get Duke's here in LV. Amazon seems to be the only option.
Growing up in NY, Hellmann's. Moved to SC for a bit, starting enjoying Duke's. MW is for commies. |

Was going to order some Duke's but recent Amazon reviews are pretty bad. Seems it is arriving separated and spoiled. What seller to order from?

OP is correct. I don't put lettuce on mine though. Screws up the balance of bacon and tomato.
Toasted wheat with home grown tomato, thick cut hickory smoked bacon, and MW. The tang of MW goes much better with an acidic tomato than mayo. Mayo for egg sammiches (although I like either). MW makes better tuna or ham or egg salad, too. Bunch of nancy boys in here. |

I bought a jar of Dukes just to see what the big deal was about. I also had Helmanns and Miracle Whip on hand and did a taste test between the three. The Helmanns and Miracle Whip tasted about the same to me, kind of tangy. The Dukes was just plain and bland. View Quote |

Because of this thread, I tried Duke's this week.
I don't see the attraction. It's bland. Hellman's beats it. |

I agree OP. Love me some miracle whip when I make a turkey or chicken sandwich.

Maybe OP spent too much time over the mountains in California...that's all I can figure.
We moved up here 15 years ago after living 15 years in Texas. Wife (no pics) swears by Heilman's mayo. |
