I mean, that's kind of the equivalent of trying Keystone to decide if you like beer.  There's such a huge difference in handling and quality with a cheaper shotgun that it really isn't representative of what shooting a better O/U is like.

I'd try to find a Beretta 686 Essential, should run $800ish.  It's nothing fancy, but it's a solid, reliable shotgun.  If it has to be cheaper, I'd buy a CZ.  They're still Turkish shotguns designed by Turkish designers, but there's at least CZ customer service standing behind them.

Every once in a while I just say fuck it I’m a God damned American, I need a new gun.

Went knowing I needed a threaded pistol or rifle.

Selection was kinda limited but I like it. Didn’t even know it came with 3 extra mags.

There are more effective shot loads out there. Steel pretty much sucks.

Doesn't have to be steel, but older O/Us will require bismuth or tungsten matrix, which is more expensive than steel.

Define "a lot."  Thousand bucks?  Two grand?
If he doesn't get a Super Posed he should go be poor somewhere else.

Mine wouldn't eject a spend shell without smacking the butt against the ground while holding the fore-grip. It was highly efficient.

Now, after a lot of grinding and polishing, it'll eject the spent shell 90% of the time.

It isn't the bolt. The rim of the case was getting stuck on a tooling mark just outside the chamber. After I ground that off and polished it, it worked mostly better.
