I was made aware of something called the momo challenge. My lid likes to watch kids stuff on youtube and this stuff is pretty alarming. Its telling kids to commit suicide and other things. Anynody come across this? We haven’t but no more youtube for the time being.

I did read that there should be nothing to worry about? So no worries? If so I’m relieved.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw this house totally gives away MDMA on Halloween.

As long as Momo is alive nothing happens to Chili Palmer, do you understand?

Best I have been able to find since hearing about it, it started as a scare tactic for parents to scare their kids into being careful on the internet and some parents started believing it.
Sort of like when I was a kid, we had to worry about needles and razor blades in trick or treat candy. Since we were able to go trick or treating without grownups they needed a way to scare us into not going to the town weirdo's house. |

Just spack 'em with a slice of cheese and they'll forget all about momo.

I love MOMO because it made parents actually pay attention to their kids for 5 minutes

So did this Momo thing peak too early? Is it wrong to want a Momo Halloween costume??

My daughter's school actually sent out email and text warnings about this. I asked her what it was and she had no idea.

The wife has video of a Pepe pig video showing it’s not The school district is flipping out over it right now View Quote In reality, the hoax caused more panic and the hoax got bigger. Now you have 12 year olds putting momo in pepe pig videos and uploading them because they think it's funny. The official pepe pig channel wasn't hacked, and YouTube is not and had never been safer than any of the rest of the internet. No one is killing themselves because of momo. Scary does not mean dangerous. My wife showed my 4 y/o son the picture to see if he had seen it. He hasn't and now he won't shut up about it. So a kid who had never seen or been afraid of momo now knows and is afraid of momo. Congratulations you dipshit stay at home moms.. |

We went from going out for candy one year to being escorted around and even some cities offering to X-ray kids candy! That being said, it is absolutely important to monitor kids' internet usage and use parental controls where needed because there are a bunch of assholes and weirdos on the internet. |

How are going to teach your kid to not overreact to the stupid stuff you see on the internet when you cant stop yourself?
|

Well I'm a Satanist because I played D&D as a kid, so while I normally think it's OK to do anything you want, I was a bit miffed when my kidneys were stolen and I woke up in a bathtub full of ice. I tried to drive home afterwards but when I flashed my headlights at an on-coming car to let them know they'd forgotten to cut theirs on they shot me. As if two missing kidneys and getting shot wasn't bad enough, the guy with the hook chasing me really ruined my day.

It was declared bogus last week after a few days of mass hysteria about it

We were on the fence about deleting youtube apps from our kids' devices, and while the momo thing is fake news, it was the straw that deleted the app.
Basically what happened was the kids ended up watching toy videos which led to them watching these family blogs. A couple of the family blogs that started showing up featured households with preteen and teen kids doing things that aren't age appropriate for my kids. In spite of resetting their feed a few times, they kept getting to the same channels. So we hit the self destruct button. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that the parental controls on youtube or youtube kids are robust enough that you can tailor the contents - only block certain videos or channels. Fuck that. They protested at first but now the kids are back to watching cartoons and other age appropriate content and all is well. |

This momo shit is so blown out of proportion, it’s crazy. My 6 year old had to be picked up from school early last week because she was all stressed out about it. Once I actually showed her what it was all about, she thought it was just dumb.

I heard they found and entire school full of kids who gouged out their own eyes with spoons after they accidentally showed them a momo video during assembly.
Or maybe it's all bullshit. IDK. |

I think the whole point was to get parents checking their kid's internet viewing content.
Well done mom-o. |

View Quote That does make me feel a little bad for momo though. She doesn't deserve that. |
