Just to update, he started out playing metal on bass. Started a post-hardcore band with HS friends and they now play paid clubs gigs around town, even played at a SXSW event this year.  He's been writing and working on projects with others as a bassist and rhythm guitarist in a wide range of genres.

FF to today.  I thought it was just a phase when he went and bought a Mexican Fender Strat HSS but now he's off to pickup a Squier Jaguar. Should I be sad that I lost my son or happy that I gained a daughter???

Not a bad player. I guess this is Daphne Blue and we've been sorting out the switching option. Seller played jazz and it has flatwounds on it too. 2 inconsequential nicks on the back of the glossy neck (thumbs don't contact them) and he scored it for $280.

And I thought my coil taps were complicated wiring

I didn't look up year model yet but appears to be a Classic Vibe 70's Jaguar due to the bound fretboard.
