Thanks Ben that was a good one.  By the way
my son is a Marine and I was in the 82nd Airborne Division.  To me if I have to fight with a
bayonet that is a last resort and I've all ready lost.
I have faith in my shotgun shooting as a NRA shotgun
instructor , trap shooter and hunter.  But I guess they can be cool as I remember putting it my
M16.  Yeah I'm older but give me a break.  Take care
in this sh@t ball time.

Why wouldn't you want a bayonet while storming an enemy position, especially a building, where you may suddenly find yourself in arms reach of someone?

You call it a last resort, but say that as if it is a defensive weapon. Think offense brother!

I'm not sure how having faith in a shotgun, or being a shotgun instructor is relevant to that.

But at least you aren't a leg like most the posters on here, so I'll give you that...

Bayonets are also used to check that zeds will remain stationary

Avoid pointy stick wielding fellows has been written onto the human brain for far longer than firearms. The mind understands death by stabbing in a much more visceral fashion.

"Lets avoid that smiling Nepalese gentleman with the huge knife" has been a successful survival trait for a long time.

As far as 590a1s go, the magpul shorty with the ghostring XS sights is my favorite

it handles and points well for this wookie

M7.

Combat Hunting has add on lugs for long magazine shotguns.  You should also add a clamp from tube to barrel for strength, IMHO.

What do you guys think of converting a genuine M1905 bayonet to fit an M-16?

It would look classic on this retro 590A1.

I actually want to put one on mine now.

It does help. Fireing 50-100+ rounds the heatshield does help.

I finally found links by googling pictures of them which linked me to vendors.  Weird.

I think Google mostly restricts results to vendors that aren't on board with their views, which the vendors of knives typically are not.  So they aren't limiting the knives, but anything the vendor sells.

It's a law that all 590A1s must have wood furniture and a heat shield. What you wrote is wrong on so many levels.

Don't be confused by the name: A M4 bayonet (like those above] only fits M1 carbines.

The M7 bayonets and later were made for the AR-15/M16/M4 family of rifles and carbines.
