There needs to be a legal process to address these issues before they blow up as her son did.

Stay strapped. Don't go where crazy folks go. Avoid people like this. If you see them at the grocery store, go down a different aisle.

That's sufficient to deal with stuff like this.

(And yes, on some level I get what you're saying.....we just don't have a trustworthy mechanism to deal with such things. Any attempt we make to put in place red flag type laws will be abused against us, guaranteed)
