Took a trip to Indiana to visit some relatives and got offered a job and a set of living circumstances that are too good to turn down.  It's an amazing opportunity and just fell into my lap.
So I'll be moving with the wife and kids up there in April. I've lived in Texas my entire life so this will be a huge change.

So what are the gun laws like?

Things to watch out for?

Taxes?

I know next to nothing about Indiana.  I have a lot of research to do.  For example, I have a Texas LTC(License to Carry) and I'm not sure what I need to do to make it valid in Indiana.

On a related note I'd like to thank @scuba_steve and @whiskerzthecat for shaming me in one of "teh poors" threads.  In a small way this helped inspire me to take this advantage of this opportunity.  I've been sick of being poor for a long time and this move will get me on the path to becoming ARFCOM rich.

Anyway, and insider info would be greatly appreciated.

What part?

Indiana recognizes any other states Ccw or equivalent license as a non resident. As a resident you will need to get an Indiana license but you can get a lifetime license for cheap there is no class or training required they are must issue as well just fill out the paper submit your fee and get it in the mail usually within the week.

Welcome, Indiana will honor your permit until you establish residency.  You will then need to apply for an Indiana permit.  Pretty much shall issue so you just have to apply.  Taxes vary on a county by county basis.  What part of Indiana?

Life is good here. Property taxes are quite lower than IL, Republik of, where I moved from a few years ago.
Lifetime carry permit is cheap, and clears fast. No waiting period on gun purchases, and also a Class III state.

Welcome.

How old is that image? Kansas is a constitutional carry state.

If you are legal to carry, you are good to go here. You don't even need a CCW from your home state.

No idea. It was the first thing I saw when googling TX reciprocity.

I love Indiana!

I moved here from Illinois, so ofc the juxtaposition was much different from a move from Texas.

That being said:

-good gun laws
-conservative values
-constitutionally capped property taxes
-landlord friendly laws
-strong business climate

Yes, it's geographically boring. It's the Midwest. But the people, values, and laws are great, in my opinion.

I'm proud to be a Hoosier!

Knightstown isn't in what Hoosiers consider Best Indiana but that's okay because you are far enough from Indy and won't panic if you forget to take the keys out of the ignition.

Indiana is conservative and, unlike Texas, there are only a couple of places you can go and think you're no longer in America.  Bilingualism isn't encouraged here.

Watch the movie Hoosiers to get some insight into the culture of where you are relocating.

Grew up near Louisville, on the KY side. Southern Indiana is quite hilly in areas. Decent state parks and camping in Hoosier National Forest.

South central Indiana and north is flat as a pancake from what I recall

That's where the movie Hoosiers was filmed.

I used to live in a surrounding county.

Opt for the lifetime carry gun permit (was $100 last I knew).

If you or anyone else in your household has hayfever, enjoy October.  I used to go to Conner Prairie's Arms Making Workshop and d*mn wouldn't my nose run like the Fountains of Rome.

Enjoy the Indiana War Memorial in Indianapolis and Landwerlin (sp) leather store if you're into making holsters or belts.

I moved to West Lafayette for school (Purdue). Been here since August. People seem quite friendly. Not much terrain to look at, but it was nice & green in the summer, and this desert rat likes that.

It's a tiny town in the middle of nowhere.  I think they do have a hotel.  It is right south of Needmore.  Need more what?  That's what you will have to discover.

It's not far at all from Bloomington however.

Lol not southern Indiana at all. That’s a Indianapolis suburb very central. Lots of nice places to live and raise a family. The Fishers area is pretty nice.
