Some people equate an instant reply with intelligence.

Some people prefer to wait a few seconds for a thoughtful answer.

Not saying one is better, but one is definitely better.

Seriously, that's actually what he's talking about.

Not quite; this is the quote he's paraphrasing:

Inigo Montoya: Offer me money.

Count Rugen: Yes!

Inigo Montoya: Power, too, promise me that.

Count Rugen: All that I have and more. Please...

Inigo Montoya: Offer me anything I ask for.

Count Rugen: Anything you want...

Inigo Montoya: I want my father back, you son of a bitch!

Ah. Liberal use of emojis should've been my clue.

It was primarily aimed at the TL/DR crowd.

That's the attraction of Trump.  He doesn't care about money, he cares about the country.  He isn't beholden to the swamp.

I was, and still am, a little suspicious about Musk.  But I'm coming around to like him more each day.

Agreed.  Glibness is not a synonym for intelligence.  They can co-exist, but it is not necessary.

Interesting comparison.

Trump is a businessman, and wants to save a failing company (our country).

Musk is a visionary, and wants to explore new frontiers.

Both are a far cry better than the slimy, stagnant swamp.

Why not just say it and not mask it with a movie quote.  Does it make one more intelligent by knowing a movie quote.

Because sometimes how you say a thing matters as much as the message.

2. "You look great but the red dress would look even betterer."

Choose wisely.

Sometimes, you must play the cards that are dealt to you.  Musk answered the question that was asked, and he did it in a way that wasn't overtly offensive.  Unless, of course, the listener wanted to be offended, in which case Musk got his point across anyway.

Is he still worried  about offending the left? They are all fat asses. The analogy with the wife doesnt apply in this context.  He is not married to a side.  He has power. He has money.  He owns one of the most if not the most wide spread media company in the world. He can’t be silenced or banned.  Why is tempering his responses. Leave no ambiguity.  That is a person that is confident and truly not worried about power or wealth.

The perfect quote in responding to that journalist.

The invitation of power and money won’t sway him from his goal. His eye is on the prize.

OK, here's another analogy for you.  You're in a meeting with your subordinate.  He can be an idiot, but he also can be a good worker at times.  He says something stupid.  Do you say:

1. That was a stupid comment, subordinate!

or

2. How about we try this, instead?

If you don't grok either of these analogies, I don't know what to tell you.

Exactly

And let's be honest.  What's the difference between $1bill and $250bill?   Nothing.  He is obviously happy with either option.

Whats fucked is that this is lost on so many people.  The worship of money over everything.  Our forefathers gave up wealth and titles for liberty.

Too many of us(including myself) have traded a comfortable existence for liberty.

No, they're not.

Name one single instance of Trump engaging in a calculated move that will cost him billions of dollars, just to make a point of principle.

The fundamental difference is that A: Musk has repeatedly shown the ability to grow companies in new markets into multi-billion dollar behemoths in spite of his reputation, while Trump just rides on the brand recognition of his name, and B: Trump is in it for his own ego. Every action he's taken, from running for office to selling digital trading cards, to attacking any other Republican who appears to be vying for power..is ultimately explainable most cleanly under Occam's Razor as "Trump is in it for Trump".

Musk is the high functioning autistic with a certain degree of personality disorder, a stratospheric IQ, and an inhuman drive to achieve that drives everyone else around him into the ground. He's not going to run for President because his vision is set on Mars. He doesn't care about individual people, just the overall goal of advancing humanity. Trump couldn't care less what happens to everyone else.

This is the problem with being so vague. There are posters in this thread interpreting his princess bride reference to wanting his kid back to kill over this , or maybe he HAS all the money and power he needs to not worry about speaking his mind. Others think its 4D chess.
My take is that he is pissed that the left has targeted him to be “cancelled”. Buying twitter ensures that he wont be silenced on whatever he decides to say/tweet.
Or it could be the awkwardness of his autism peeking through.

Trump doesn't care about making billions of dollars.  You don't get it.  Some people just DGAS about money.  I'm one of them.  I just don't care.  I have what I have and I will make what I make and IDGAS about anyone's opinions vis me making more money.  I'm not unique in that respect.  Some of us are satisfied with what we have.  Trump is one.  Musk is another.  I am, too.

Yeah.  It is.  This is why I could never trust the guy.  His judgement will always be suspect because he thought Brandon was superior to Trump.  But I like what he's doing with twitter, and I like his reaction to the Left's opinions about him.  He's like the Honey Badger.  He don't GAS.  But I wouldn't want a Honey Badger in my home.

I can hold those positions because, well, I'm an adult and I grew up in a time when schools taught critical thinking.  That ship sailed 30+ years ago.
