Last time I was in Savannah I fucked a stripper.   She called to say she was pregnant.   I said sorry for you but I ain't have no baby.   Heard her friends in the background saying...see...told you it wouldn't work.   TRUE FUCKING STORY!

Like the title says. The wife and I are spending the day in the city. Any recommendations on food, stores, and sites?

I’m really interested in antique stores. I’d love to do the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth but I’m trying to be nice to with wife.

Definitely do the Museum and just go to river street find a parking spot and walk around. Tybee Island is a nice place to visit as well and the civil war fort between the two.

Go to Mellow Mushroom and get the meatballs and a white pizza.

Wet Willie's down on the waterfront, not the one up top.

See the waving girl stature while you are down on the waterfront.

The fountain at Forsyth park.

Colonial Park cemetery is worth walking past.

The Forrest Gump "bench" is on the north side of Chippewah square. No actual bench and never was other than for movie but stand in the middle of the street and take a picture and the background matches so that's the attraction.

Take the trolly tour to save a lot of hot walking.

To be honest, the attraction of Savannah is the architecture, the city layout/squares and grid pattern, and all the shops and restaurants. There are a bunch of art galleries, SCAD is there. You can walk around and have a southern take on city living. Very different vibe than you get in NYC.

Well it looked like it took about 20 post for some one to say the PSA Store - LOL  you guys are slipping.

Wormsloe State Historic Site

Telfair Museums - there are three

Tricentennial Park

There is so much to see and do....

LOL

Red

Edit to add....My favorite thing to do is when you come off the I-95 at the Peppercorn Exit...as you head to the river - look at the buildings - like you are going back in time......

The wife and I went there over 10 years ago.  We enjoyed an architecture tour, we also visited some special house that had the first toilets and inside plumbing or something like that.  Tybee Island is cool, it's like going back in time 50 years.  There's a Fort and a cool lighthouse there.  We drove through the wildlife refuge that's actually in South Carolina.  We ate at Lady and Sons (Paula Deen's place) and the Pirate House.  It was a fun trip.  We also took a sunset boat tour which was pretty cool.

Which paints a Rosey Picture of the Shithole that is Savannah.

I saw the Movie-Savannah Looked fantastic: I went to Savannah and Thought: "Where are the White Folks"??

ETA: We stayed at the Hyatt and couldn't leave soon enough to get to Hilton Head and Charleston which we really enjoyed.

ETA#2 Savanah has some nice homes and public spaces but you always feel like you're going to be "Robbed"

Ft. Pulaski is more than well worth it.  Look for the gators in the moat.

The 8th Air Force Museum NW of town; also well worth it.

There was very heavy fighting down there during the revolutionary war.  I would do a tour, hit the museum, see some of the old earthworks still remaining.

That and restaurants :)

Edit:  Fort Pulaski is neat too, I think there’s Nother down there as well but can’t remember the name at the moment.

It has gotten crazy expensive.  I recommend going onto the island and going to Northbeach Grill. I was there all last week.

OP, start the day with breakfast at Clarys.  The crab cakes Benedict is great.

Fort Pulaski is cool.

Wormsloe is a beautiful spot to visit. My daughter got married there in February and we made a trip last week while we were somewhat in the area. They’ve opened a visitor center now and don’t let you drive down the long driveway anymore, but they do offer a shuttle.

Downtown, we liked the night time carriage ride much better than the haunted trolley tour. Trolley tour was pretty cheesy in comparison and we’d rather have taken a second carriage ride in retrospect.

Leopold’s ice cream is the best and the line outside proves it.

While walking River Street, find this spot and look for the guy playing the saxophone and let him do his echo speech. Doesn’t even mention tipping him but we did anyway.
