Our city spent a lot of money installing one of these things which I fucking hate because people are too dumb to yield.
So now they made it a 4-way stop, kind of defeats the purpose Attached File |

Lol
What a waste of money building a roundabout. They are becoming more common in my area |

i call it a throughabout...just put in in 4hi locked and drive straight through the centre. it saves time

I'd be real pissed if that atrocity was right out the front door of my house

Sigh. They gave up. OP you should petition for those stops to be removed and replaced with yields.
I love roundabouts, because when people get used to them they are so much faster than 4-way stops. Here in WA people are so damn polite the 4-way takes forever, and any inching-forward on your parts freaks the other drivers out. But amazingly enough, the roundabouts seem to work well after a short period of time. And I've done my part with the generous use of the horn to help educate those who yield unnecessarily. Next up, we have the Diverging Diamond Interchange. I've been in a few, and they are a bit freaky. They're converting an interchange into one down in Olympia. It will be exciting. |

Why is there a stop sign on a roundabout... In Indiana they are all over the place up north. I gun it through them because people are to scared and pass up the slow people.
Edit- Read OP post, Take the stop signs out. |
|
NJ had the large "circles' as we used to call them, many were eliminated over the years, now they are putting in small roundabouts, so small that 48 foot rigs can't get through them.

I actually like roundabouts. Once people learn how to use them properly, they can really speed things up and ease congestion. There will always be idiots behind the wheel, but idiots will always be idiots. I was driving a boom truck loaded with 22,000 pounds of rolled roofing on it down Hallandale Beach Blvd toward I-95. I was coming up on the left turn lane to go North on the Interstate. The driver of a car full of elderly Canadians thought it would be a good idea to stop dead in the center lane, wait until I got almost abreast of them, and then make a sharp lane change into the left lane right in front of me. Having an air horn isn't nearly as satisfying as you would think it would be in such a situation. This story has nothing to do with roundabouts, but everything to do with idiots, which is kinda my point.

We're getting our first one and probably one of the first in this state! Spending $4 million on an intersection that does not need it. Fucking retards run this city now

They have been putting a lot of them in around here.
I like them but then again, I get how they work, many don't grasp the concept. Because of that, several of them have 2 way or 4 way stops on them. The 2 way ones aren't that bad, usually the less used side roads are the ones with the sign, through traffic can keep moving. What kills me is when they use them as part of an overall "beautification" project. The downtown area of the city I live in took a 4 lane road that had a minimum of stop signs and traffic lights, took away one lane in each direction (made it bike and parking) and added a huge, ornate traffic circle. It now takes 30 minutes to get through that one 1/4 mile stretch during rush hour, used to be a few minute drive. |

You've never lived life until you go full steam into a multilane roundabout in Kuwait. I bet I could have bent an AR barrel my butthole was clenched so tight.
That being said I've almost got into a couple wrecks in the US trying to drive a roundabout normally because people are fucking stupid. |

Single lane roundabouts ate the easiest thing ever, how can you fuck that up? I go through several double roundabouts often with nary a problem.
|
|
Around here as of late they are building them with two lanes, making passing much easier.
During the summer months it gets a little sporty with the tourists sometimes. A lot of people from out of state don't understand the concept, and they are typically given a wide berth so you don't get hit when they do something stupid. |

At least it's not a magic roundabout.

I approached a roundabout late one night with a car about halfway through it.
The female driver decided she didn't want to continue in the roundabout so she put it in reverse and backed through it and exited where she entered. What is a circle? |
|
Now that is hilarious.
Roundabouts are being put in everywhere around here. They make traffic so much better. I think it's hilarious that the average arfcommer can't grasp the complex idea of yielding and going in a circle. |

Op are you in perryopolis pa. I read the article and said wtf that defeats the purpose of a roundabout.

One of the cool things about roundabouts is that they make accidents much less severe. What might have killed someone in a normal intersection is a bent fender in a roundabout.
Plus they flow a lot better. |
