After I bought it last night I started drinking a few 120 Minute IPAs and before I know it I am a couple hours into reading the book. Loving it so far so, how far along are you into the 2nd book of the series? Please tell me you are not trying to become the next George R.R. Martin and we can look forward to it in 8 to 10 years.

To answer your question, The Gordian Event took me about 6 months to write the first draft. It took another 2 years before I felt it had been polished up enough to send out to the world. I have The Hellbender Event first draft done, and it's probably 1/3 of the way through the polish. Without trying to sound pompous, the more I write, the better I'm get, so it shouldn't take nearly as long. God willing, my goal is to have it ready for release sometime before January. My big problem is that I write when I'm inspired, and that inspiration doesn't always follow the same story line. I have about 20 short stories and a few more novels in the works right now. (GE Book 3 is one of them) My vision for the Gordian series is for each book to shift genre. Book 1 is zombie apocalypse horror. Book 2 will be more action-adventure with sci-fi thrown in and Book 3 is shaping up to be more sci-fi with some action-adventure thrown in. That's all I'm going to give away at this time but the project is definitely moving forward and I have high hopes.

I'm about ten percent in.
Seems ambitious in detail, a lot of moving parts, and it's definitely got that arfcom flavor to it, not just the gun stuff but how self defense is handled. Does not seem like simple wish fulfillment like sooooo many first novels are. I'm quite enjoying it so far. |

I'm halfway through.
2 thoughts. Fucking awesome so far and I don't usually like the gore/horror stuff. And I really like stories set in places I'm familiar with adds a whole other level of depth to the imagery for me. So being born and raised in Phoenix this is awesome! |

Finished.
Seems rather Lovecraftian, even though I haven't read too much of his stuff. Found a couple of typos, Virgil's name was misspelled as his character was "leaving" the story and near the end the word naval was used as opposed to navel. Also the moment where they are talking about snakes, stars and the collapse of civilizations seemed like a real "God (or perhaps Satan) of the gaps" moment. Understandable for characters in a story, but civilizations don't just go bye bye without an explanation. I rated it as a 4/5. Bit too much gorn for my taste and seemed like it was too much of a setup for a future story as opposed to being its own thing. I have that complaint about A LOT of books and movies and whatnot nowadays. |
| First I'd like to say thanks for the free book! It was a great read, I thought you did a very good job of bringing the characters personalities out and making most of them likeable. ( I didn't care much for Sam lol) I read the whole book in about 4 hours, couldn't seem to put it down. Overall I thought it was a great book, the one part that didn't sit to well with me was the ending, it seemed somewhat anticlimactic to me. I expected more from the people in the boats, it all just seemed like it was over to quickly. I don't want to say to much for the people that haven't read it yet and please don't take my criticism in the wrong light, I'm not trying to be negative I really did like the book. Just wanted to share my honest feelings about it, I read a lot but not usually books of this genre. Once again thanks for the book and you did an excellent job!! |

Congrats on another accomplishment BTW. I love my Kindle ever since I finally got one 2 Xmas'es ago, but resisted putting the Kindle app on my phone. Being out of town and seeing your book release thread finally made me DL the Kindle app on my phone. Sheesh, I coulda saved the Kindle money. The app on the phone is GREAT, and even easier to hold than the Kindle. Will be sure to leave a review on Amazon when I've finished the book. |
