I hung my house lights today. Just around the roof edge. Had time and the weather was right, and I have lot going on all week.

I have a strand of colored lights strung over my mantle just because I tested some last week and my kids wanted them to stay.

We will do the Christmas tree and other decorations next weekend.

I like having some December between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

40 days of Christmas belies it's true meaning.

Meh. I'm older now, so it takes longer to get everything up, so I start earlier. Started the Christmas tree yesterday, outside lights tomorrow. Nothing will be lit until after Thanksgiving.

Wife and kids usually put ours up the weekend after Thanksgiving .

So did my mom and dad when we were kids in the 70's and 80's.

Tree and all interior and exterior decorations are up. Fuck it, I love Christmas and we had some nice weather recently, so I would rather be outside putting up decorations in 50 degree weather than 30 degrees weather. IDGAF if you don't like it

Lived alone since leaving my parents house so I have never had a Christmas tree in my apartment/house.

Going to work last night I noticed one of the  neighbors already had their tree up, decorated, and in the front window for all to see.

Ours went up a couple weeks ago, but it was just because that was a convenient time. We had my granddaughter and her friend over, so they decorated.

We don't have children, so we haven't put up a tree in at least 10 years but are putting one up this year to just try and have a nice Christmas.

I enjoy all the decorations; they bring back good memories of my grandparents.

Plus it's fun to see my brother's children get so excited for Christmas.

They are for sale everywhere around here.  Tractor Supply had the best price I've seen yet (glancing while I'm at a store), although I'm not buying one this year.

We are usually very traditional and do it Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving.  But the wife feels like she has a time crunch on her with our kids infrequent visits and she wants a little Christmas atmosphere this week with some of them making back into town.
We put it up yesterday.

Growing up it was always about a week or two after thanksgivings. As an adult/after getting married, the past 7 years it’s been going up a week before Thanksgiving.

I have a live tree  in my living room.

I never take it down.

When it reaches the ceiling i'm going to take it outside and plant it in the yad.

Then I can start over with another small three footer.

We don't bother with a tree any more.  Or gifts.   Wife is in charge of decorations.   We got a wreathe today, but she says it can't go up until December 1.

I didn’t get to do that this year because I was traveling but that’s normally when ours goes up

Christmas sucked in my house when I was a kid and I hated it as an adult because of that too

Then I married a wonderful woman who didn’t grow up in a house with cancer and abusive alcoholism and I was hell bent and determined that my kids would know only joy at that time of year

So if I want to put it up on the 4th of July I will and there is fuck all you can do to stop me

If we wouldn't be expecting new flooring for the living room, the tree would've been up 2 weeks ago.

Bah, humbug!

We put ours up after Thanksgiving, but the wife does pretty much all of it. I just help her put the artificial tree together. I could do without any of the pagan holiday crap. But I'm an admitted scrooge. The tree I'd like to put up would be a small fake palm tree, and put a few decorations on there.

I do however play along and I do give out gifts to the wife and kids of course. Though more and more it's just cash, because hey... who doesn't want more cash? Easy for me and they like it. The wife and I usually get each other gift cards. She always gets me a Scheel's gift card and there's nowhere else I'd rather shop.

For fucking real.

Who cares that someone wants to get into the spirit early? They're not hurting anyone.

Personally, mine goes up day or two after Thanksgiving, as do the lights.

But if people want to do it earlier, who the hell am I to judge?
