Quoted: First patch is out. They tweaked a few of the bosses; they're easier now and more predictable. Apparently it's not a "nerf", they were technically broken and now fixed. They also buffed a bunch of the rifles and machine pistols; increased damage, increased ammo, faster bullets. Plus a bunch of bug fixes. PATCH NOTES View Quote Interesting. To me, the projectile speed on some of those weapons might be the biggest buff. |

I'm a physical media guy, and unfortunately my first copy arrived cracked (yes, cracked). Sent it back. Replacement delayed due to ups clowns. Damn, that PAC heavy combat helo boss was no joke. After 3+ deaths I went balls out with combat boost melee attacks.
Loving the simple responsiveness and fluidity of the controls (XSX). Anyone have any early builds? Running the stock rifle, melee energy sword, missile pack, and just added the L-shield. |

Heavy tank base with dual gatling guns and Songbirds on the shoulders makes most boss fights easy. For general missions it depends on how you like to play: I went through most of the game with a medium biped AC, dual laser rifles, 1 Songbird (dual grenade launcher), 1 plasma missile launcher. If you want to go lighter, swap the laser rifles for laser pistols, keeping the shoulders the same. Shotguns are also really good. I mostly ignored the swords/melee weapons early. There are a couple that are really good, but they don't come until much later. I don't care for shields, either. Just dodge better. ETA: since the patch, early kinetic weapons should be better than they were, but I haven't tested any of them yet to see if they're viable. I would look how they buffed LR-036 Curtis first, since I know the LR-037 Harris is pretty solid, but I don't remember when that unlocks. There is also a 3-round burst assault rifle that was buffed: that might be pretty good, since it wasn't terrible before the patch. I don't recall the name, though. ETA2: MA-J-201 RANSETSU-AR |

Update 1.03 today
When spectating an online match, the "QUIT SPECTATE" option has been added to the menu, allowing spectators to return to the multiplayer room. Added "Chg. Ammo Consumption" parameter to the "IB-C03W3: NGI 006" coral missile part specs shown via "Toggle Display". Added "Scan Standby Time" parameter to head part specs shown via "Toggle Display". Bug Fixes Fixed a bug that caused certain enemies or enemy actions to get stuck on terrain during the mission "Intercept the Redguns". Fixed a bug that caused enemies to stop appearing when the player stands in a certain spot during the mission "Escort the Weaponized Mining Ship". Fixed a bug that caused defeated enemies to remain visible on radar during the mission "Breach the Karman Line". Fixed a bug that caused the second shot of certain burst fire weapons to veer heavily off target when fired while performing a drift turn on Tank legs. Fixed a bug that caused boost to disable under certain conditions with Tetrapod legs equipped. Fixed a bug that occurred with the "VP-66LS" laser shotgun equipped to the left hand, which caused a longer delay than intended between firing a charge shot and being able to fire a normal shot again. Fixed a bug with the "VP-60LT" laser turret, where it would not respond to the sub-generators during the mission "Destroy the Weaponized Mining Ship". Fixed a bug that occurred while reloading the "Vvc-700LD" laser drone, which caused player AC orientation to lock to a target, even with Target Assist disabled. Fixed a bug that caused incorrect icons to be displayed for intended damage type or reload type in the part specs for certain weapon parts. Adjusted the timing window of being able to use repair kits while firing certain weapons. Fixed a bug with certain melee weapons that caused the "Chg. Attack Power" parameter to display an unintended value in the part specs shown via "Toggle Display". Fixed a bug that occurred after firing a charge shot during assault boost, which caused a consecutive normal shot to fire unintentionally. Fixed a bug that prevented damage caused by status effects from being displayed on the HUD. Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash from the "AC Data" menu in certain situations. Due to behavioural issues in photo mode, removed the "Motion Blur" option and added the "Camera Blur" option. NB: We plan to restore the Motion Blur option in a future update. Fixed a bug that prevented Trophies/Achievements from unlocking under certain circumstances if unlock requirements involved acquiring parts. NB: If any of the following Trophies/Achievements fails to unlock, go to the Shop menu and sell any part from the relevant category. Buying the part back again will trigger the unlock. "Weapon Collector" -- "External Parts Collector" -- "Internal Parts Collector" Changed behavior in online match rooms, so that players are informed when the match is starting even while they have another menu open (e.g. Assembly). Fixed a bug that caused screen transitions to behave incorrectly when launching the game by accepting an online match invite. Other performance improvements and minor bug fixes. Steam Fixed a bug that occurred when changing screen mode, which caused the HUD to render incorrectly. Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash when changing graphics settings from the System menu while in a multiplayer room. Share IDs are now recognized when entered in either upper or lower case. Other Changes Updated "Data Usage Agreement" text for the Japanese version. *NB: After applying the update, the confirmation screen will appear once more for all players. Ultimately a fantastic game, but after playing through 3 times for all the endings, I'm a little disappointed in how powerful kinetic weapons are relative to other options.
The easy/OP strategy is to stagger enemies with kinetic hand-held weapons (I used rifles, but shotguns and gatling guns are as viable), then unload with powerful shoulder weapons - repeat as necessary. The best version of that is a heavy AC (I preferred a biped, but a tank would be viable) to mount the heaviest/best weapons (Stun Needle Launchers). I tried so hard to make an agile light AC with a melee weapon work, but the skill level required is exponentially greater than the above heavy AC. Energy ranged weapons are okay, but to use them successfully, you need use shoulder weapons to stagger instead of damage, so boss fights are more difficult. |

Quoted: How is this compared to Soulsborne and Sekiro? View Quote Quite different. It is nowhere near as punishingly difficult - especially after the patch to fix the bug that made it harder - but still plenty challenging in its way. The game revolves around earning money to buy different parts for your AC (AC = mech for all intents and purposes), and then customizing it to complete more missions. 3 different endings (though largely the same missions throughout) + other unlockables give a good incentive to play multiple times. |

Sounds cool and the video I've watched seems interesting. I like stuff where I can customize my character and build it my way. I'll have to give it a go after Sekiro. |

Basically they buffed a ton of weapons and lightweight parts, and nerfed a bunch of the overused weapons (Zimmermans, songbirds, needles, etc) and heavyweight parts. |

Quoted: are there any good beginning builds after the lasr round of nerfs? im stuck on the mission the wall in chapter 1 View Quote Have there been any changes since the beginning of November? I haven't played in a month, but take a bipedal medium or heavy AC equipped with double kinetic rifles - I don't remember what becomes available when, but any burst rifle, burst assault rifle, or linear rifle works very well. Eventually you will unlock the linear rifle, “LR-037 HARRIS,” which is my favorite hand weapon, and I ran through NG+1 and +2 with them. Some kind of explosive back weapons tend to be best. The SONGBIRDS grenade launchers are solid and will carry you through much of the game. You can't go wrong with the best available missile launcher, either. Eventually you get access to a rail gun ("stun needle launcher") that is probably the best back weapon in the game. That's about as beginner as it gets. Depending on your playstyle, you could go a hundred different ways and be more successful. |
