Sweet. It would be really hard for me not to get the mag extension coated in FDE too.
View Quote

I had the FDE Magpul stock but the color was too off for me so I put the black one on it. I did try to paint the extension but I didn't wait long enough for it to dry and when I put the barrel clamp on it squished some paint out and had my finger prints on it

So took the paint off and just going to do a black and FDE theme. Not sure if I am going to get the Aridus handguard or not, some people say its great, some say its alright.

This is the version I'd like, the one without the pistol grip (not that it matters too much, I'll probably replace either stock anyway).

It's listed as model #j131tt18c

Doing a search online and through gundeals.com doesn't return anything anywhere.  How are you guys finding one of these?

I have a 1st gen 1301 tactical that I really enjoy. Pleasant to shoot as far as shotguns go, and had been 100% reliable, even with the cheap Winchester bird shot. . I think I'm going to try to trade it out for a competition model though. I'd prefer the non ghost ring sights

Slightly off-topic, but that link calls out Federal #1 Flite-control as being particularly well suited for self defense use. That ammo is now discontinued. @John_Wayne777, what do you recommend for home defense 12ga ammo?
View Quote

I use 8 pellet FC.

#1 pellet achieves more crushed tissue, but "more" in the sense that a car going 0-60 in 2.8 seconds is faster than a car going 0-60 in 3.1 seconds. One is slightly better but the other ain't exactly slow, right?

8 pellet FC is monumentally effective in real world use. So I'm not sweating it.

If you find a #1 load that gives you the pattern you want, by all means give it a go.

What I'm looking for in a defensive buckshot load is an effect, not a particular round. I want a pattern that allows me to guarantee my pellets end up in the target I want to hit...including allowing me to make a shot if a loved one is in close proximity to the bad guy inside my house. (Which happens a lot more than people realize) I want the pellets to be hardened so they give reliable penetration if I don't have a straight shot to dude's goodie box. FFC gives me that and it works well in all my shotguns so I keep it on hand.

If you find a #1, 0, or 00 load that patterns well for you allowing you to do all those things that isn't FC, by all means run it.

He actually was slated to use the 1301.

Seriously.

There was some sort of import thing that came up and prevented him from using a fully tricked out 1301 with the Aridus goodies on it. Prior to that one of the technical advisors for the gun stuff in the movie had been basing it on the 1301.

Agreed, my M4 has liked all the ammo I've tried, never had a ftf or fte. Bought my M4 many years ago for around $1300 or so. The Beretta looks nice, but I see no reason to buy one when I've already have the Benelli.

Haha, that is funny. But I can't picture the "sommelier" saying Beretta 1301 instead of Benelli M4.

Too bad the new Beretta model doesn't appear to have the pic rail piece where the barrel clamp would go.

Time for some clarifications:

There are formally 2 generations of 1301 Tactical shotguns.

The 1st gen guns have the flat bolt release and a fixed cylinder bore barrel.

Beretta introduced a second gen gun that has a revised bolt release (to remove the shell dump feature that turned out to be a flaw on the 1st gen bolt release) as well as changes to the receiver including increasing the size of the loading port on the bottom of the gun and relocating the serial number in case someone wanted to have it machined to be even larger. As a result the second gen receivers are a little bit longer than the first gen.

The 2nd generation guns sold to the civilian market were also supposed to come with barrels that have their screw-in choke systems.

The 2nd generation guns intended for police sales still came with fixed cylinder bore barrels.

Distributors sold those police guns to anyone. Which caused confusion.

In addition, Beretta had a true LE only SKU that included a Nordic magazine tube extension, usually paired with a Mesa Urbino stock. This wasn't sold to the public because it didn't have enough US made parts to comply with 922r.

The gun posted in the OP is a 922r compliant Gen 2 1301T with an extended magazine tube that isn't made by Nordic and a barrel that accepts their Optima chokes. (It comes with Improved Cylinder in it)

It's not a third generation of 1301...it's a second gen that has been updated to meet 922r compliance so they can offer a package that the market has been asking for.

My only complaint is the Mesa stock which sucks fetid donkey dick. But you can get it with a standard stock and the standard stock works well.

Great response.  Thanks JW777.

As a 2nd Gen, I'd expect the Aridus stock adapter, forend, and CROM will fit.

Yes.  As a weak hand reloader that does single or double reloads,
Anything I can do with a pistol grip shotgun - I can do the same training course or stage faster with a regular grip.

I have an A400 and a M2.  I would hate to use either for self defense in my home - too damn long.

I would not mind a tactical pump - mostly because I like the idea of mini-shell's with buckshot.  Plus tactical pumps tend to be smaller and lighter than my current semi auto shotguns.

If I could get a reliable Kal-Tec KS7 (like one made by a different company) - at a realistic price - I probably would go that direction.
