That is about the closest comparison I can come up with for the latest grays and blues and greens.
Did they find a huge warehouse with a bunch of this paint in it? |
There's only so many colors.
Pick one ya like and I will do the same. |
I'm truly amazed by the shit people buy when it comes to cars. Most seem to not be very particular at all.
I like the colors they are coming out with. The grey and the beige don't look bad on certain vehicles.
I`ve seen some really sharp cars and trucks painted what I call battleship grey.
sure look better than anything all blacked out. |
Some of them are ok. I saw a really bad looking beige one today though. It was on an expensive car too. We need to circle back to some 50s era colors. Also heavy metallic flake paint never looks bad

The worst is a new gray color that basically matches asphalt. It’s easy to miss than car when you look both ways.

I like Nardo Gray or something similar, Honda calls it Sonic Silver. I've seen variations on Kia, Hyundai, Nissan and Toyota. I do not like that Mazda Polymetal.

View Quote Not all of us want yet another silver, white, black, or red car. I’ll take my pearlescent grey paint over any of those. |
I kind of sort of like the battleship greys that have been coming out. Not for me, but to see riding around.

I really wish we could go back to white, red, black, silver and about 40 different versions of tan or gold. I also hate the new choices that look good. Gimme that 80's color scheme...
Sarcasm. |

Really dislike the matte/clay colors. But, not my problem as I don't ahave a vehicle with that crap.
I’m in FL, good luck with anything but white
IDGAFF what color someone else picks, as long as we’re not riding together from 10:00AM to sundown. |

I can't wait to buy a car painted Russian helicopter cockpit green.
Now if they can just do them in a hammered or speckled finish.
You do you Scotty P, but these new colors look like primer with a clearcoat on it. No thanks, I will pass.
Some people are literally colorblind, they dont know they bought something thats ugly. Not their fault.
I remember some years back seeing an ugly metallic gold Honda or something similar and the color looked like what used to be used on the Hot Wheels cars when we were kids.

Quoted: Most seem to not be very particular at all. View Quote That is particularly true right now. People in need of a car will buy what's available instead of holding out for a particular color and/or option package. Source: I deliver mostly sold units these days. Attached File |

They are still better than the matte finish which looks like ass
By all means spend 20k on a paint job the looks identical to primer |

That's actually one of the better Jeep colors nowadays. Way too many gaudy colors and few more appropriate subdued choices. I really likes that metallic OD they had way back with the YJ. The olive they have now is kinda sickly looking. My old TJ is just plain white and tan, works for us.

Quoted: My understanding is the metal flake paint hides defects better than the flat colored paints. View Quote Oh no. Used to work in an automotive paint plant. Metal flake is very very easy to see flaws in. Especially if the electrostatics we're having issues or it was sprayed manually without electrostatics. The colors they use these days suck. They are cheap and look it. A good metal flake with a pearl/mica looks fantastic. The flat stuff looks like shit and is the cheap and lazy way out. |
