It will suck

Nughtcourt was a product of its time, it cannot be replicated today, much like Miami Vice.

Agreed
Night Court was a product of crazy judges that at the time, couldn't be removed from the bench for the most part. The show creator, was inspired by just watching the night courts happening in NYC and was amazed at how nuts everyone was, those before and behind the bench. That environment doesn't exist today. Additionally, the show was groundbreaking and pushed what is a sitcom to new levels.

It existed when it's competition was stale and boring.

Sitcoms today, are stale and boring. There is nothing new to do. As a format, the sitcom is coming to an end for the most part. A remake can't trap the lighting in a bottle again. It was a one and done deal. It would be better to just digitally clean up the original episodes and air them in syndication.

Dan was awesome, but I don't see it without Harry Anderson.  It's a dud.

You could tell Harry was something special from his quick bits as the con man on "Cheers". I always wanted to see more of that character, and then "Night Court" granted my wish.

I thought the bailiff was Bull Shannon.
And Fielding's name was Rheinhold, same as some non-actor in the credits (producer?).

Bull was his nickname. 45-seventy got it right. Nostradamus.
Yep it was Reinhold. Named after the shows creator Reinhold Weege.

When I worked midnights we all would say that we wanted night court. No one knew about the show but I introduced it to the squad. I remembered watching it with my dad. I’ll have to check this out.

This.

Night court was, as mentioned, a product of its time and the chemistry of the actors/actresses in the series.

The way that they all played off one another was perfect and cannot be replicated.

Trivia:  Early in that show, a woman name Ellen Foley played the female public defender role for one season.  This was before Markie Post took that role.

Ellen Foley very famously sang backup on Meat Loaf's "Bat Out of Hell" album.  YES, she did the backup vocals on "Paradise By the Dashboard Light"!

The first two episodes were horrible. No comedy, badly cast, badly written. Shameful that it made it to air.
