"That is eye opening," said Bob Kendrick, president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri. "It is somewhat startling that two cities that have high African American populations, there's not a single Black player."
"It lets us know there's obviously a lot of work to be done to create opportunities for Black kids to pursue their dream at the highest level," he said. Houston and Philadelphia will announce their 26-man rosters several hours before Game 1 on Friday night at Minute Maid Park, where Dusty Baker, a Black outfielder for the 1981 champion Los Angeles Dodgers, manages the Astros. https://hosted.ap.org/article/f7768955507758abf3af00552d4ba9b7/no-us-born-black-players-expected-world-series-rosters Paging Jesse and Al |

"Only 2 teams go to the World Series, women and minorities affected disproportionately".

They have the same opportunity as every other kid |

Too busy with TV commercial and advertisement photo shoot schedule to try out for the MLB?

How many Native Americans? Indian? Asians? Inuit? Muslims? Trans? Gay? Handicapped? Veterans? Jewish?
We can do this all day. |

So you're saying that in an athletic competition that race matters?
Race is everything, success in any endeavor, is based on the color of your skin, the shape of your nose, and the texture of your hair. Yup. That's the message of the democratic socialist party. How sad is that. |
|
But that’s not saying women or other minorities can’t participate. Someone has to be the waterboy, serve food, get Gatorade and rub feet! Employment abounds!

If Kamala can be black then so can Bryan Abreau, Rafael Montero, Yordan Alvarez, and a couple others on the Astros. Uncle Mike has been sidelined with an injury.
Wand more blacks in baseball? Quit telling them it’s a white guys sport. Or. Even better. Who gives a fuck besides race baiters. |
|
It’s a black problem. Baseball isn’t cool to them like football and basketball so they don’t play it. Fucking shallow article, there’s no problem here that’s not entirely black created.

I comfortable with it, there are disproportionate rosters in the NFL and NBA

These people are off their rockers. Their is no way the Astros starting lineup doesn't have people with black skin on game 1. Or do they mean to say they don't count if they are from another country?

Fuck off. Anyone with half a brain doesn't care about race.
I remember a few months back, the entire starting lineup was Hispanic and they made a big deal out of it. Guess what I said? Fuck off. Anyone with half a brain doesn't care about race. Go ask the coach of the Tampa Bay Bucs what he thinks. Then, put on your nicest "I'm a victim too" shirt, and go fuck off. |

American youth baseball is EXPENSIVE. Those travel teams that draw the attention of college recruiters and pro scouts cost thousands of dollars a season. My friend payed $3000 for her 11 year old to play last year for about 3 months…Throw in the sheer politics of it where if a kid doesn’t have parents actively advocating for you to play it’s near impossible to get looks. Football and Basketball are just cheaper.Don’t get me wrong those travel teams and expensive “camps” are a thing there to but nothing like baseball and don’t get me started on soccer. It’s a cheap game to play but the amateur “system” they’ve built around it is ridiculously expensive. I was recruited to play travel baseball as teenager but my parents couldn’t afford it and that’s where my baseball dreams died.

If diversity were really as important as winning to Dusty Baker, I’m fairly confident he could sign more black players. However, it sounds like he doesn’t have a problem with the lack of black players on his roster and is doing his job of fielding the best players that give him the highest odds of winning.

The Astros have Uncle Mike (Michael Brantley), but he's been out due to injury so he's not on the official roster. All other black players are from another country. Oh, well... |

I heard that the NFL Wives Club is being sued for lack of diversity.

If I was forced to choice between soccer and baseball, as to the most boring sport? Golf is more exiting than baseball.

A bunch of black guys with a hispanic last sounding names apparently ain't black enough, they gotta have the last name of white people. (not to mention Dusty Baker as the manager) |

Any article where the "b" in "black" is capitalized, can't be taken seriously.
Also, damn Latinos, holding the black man down and keeping him out of the baseball game!!!! |

Just wait until the author of that article looks at the Stanley Cup's teams rosters!

Unless Verlander is pitching, the entire infield is Latin except for Alex Bregman. You whites should be outraged. I’ll support y’all’s protest.

how many players are actually from Houston and Philadelphia?
find something else to whine about. |
