Quoted: How does one say, “Oh, shut your f*cking pie hole, you piss pig” in German? One race where his chief rival finally eeks out enough performance to look like a podium consistent machine, not even contenting, just consistent and Mr. Catering Budget is already doing his best Karen and wagging his finger. The chutzpah of this dingbat to be issuing other teams a warning about budget cap breaches. Breathtaking audacity. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/cars/news/christian-horner-issues-mercedes-budget-cap-warning-after-w14-upgrades/ar-AA1c9J8z https://i.ibb.co/r3YKxz5/IMG-2911.jpg View Quote |

LeMans Cup Live Stream REPLAY | Race 1 | Road To Le Mans | Michelin Le Mans Cup (English) I've had it running in the background in the office most of the morning. I think people forget how exciting the support races are. In many cases more competitive and action packed than the main feature. Valentino Rossi (MGP) is driving one of the team cars. Pretty cool. Second career in GT racing is burgeoning. |

Just read that the wildfires and smoke will not affect the Montreal Grand Prix this weekend.

I finally paid for motor trend+ so I can watch Lemans, and it's not at all user friendly for people who actually want to watch racing. I see the upcoming live stream stuff, but how can I watch replays of previous events like today's qualifying?

They just ruined LeMans with their new safety car rule.
So now, the 12min advantage you have accumulated over hours of good racing and strategy will be nullified by any safety car ? So basically it’s going to be a train for 23 hours and a sprint race for 1 ? Please stop Americanizing our races ! |

Quoted: Quoted: How does that work (12 min advantage nullified) when a lap is 3:30? Lapped car will be able to overtake. But only one lap, correct? If someone had a 12 minute advantage they would be multiple laps ahead. |
|
Lol, how is that “Americanizing”?
In any case actual safety cars are relatively rare versus the length of the race. |
|
As someone who followed F1 in the early 90’s, it was a rare to meet anyone who knew about F1 and even rarer to meet someone who followed it.
And here we are in 2023 with the announcement of a dramatized series in the works about the business of F1. The show runners are legit (The Expanse, etc.) and Felicity Jones is solid. https://the-race.com/formula-1/f1s-ambitious-scripted-tv-show-revealed-a-whos-who/ |

Quoted: Quoted: How does that work (12 min advantage nullified) when a lap is 3:30? Lapped car will be able to overtake. So if a car is 12 laps down (for example) they'll be able to pass through the field 12 times? Seems like that would entirely defeat the purpose of the safety car. |

A full course SC is supposed to go as:
1) 3 Safety cars are deployed - A, B and C 2) cars are to que up behind the first safety car that they catch. 3) Then, cars behind SC's 'B' and 'C' are then allowed to pass and que up behind SC 'A' (So all cars are now behind 1 SC.) 4) If cars are ahead of their class leader in their class, they can then pass SC 'A' and rejoin the back of the que. (Kinda like lapped cars in F1) 5) The que will then be arranged so that all cars of the same class will be starting together when the SC ends. (So some cars move up, others move down?) I guess the idea is to regroup the classes and put them in their running order. I have no idea how this is going to work on a 8.5 mile circuit. A SC period could be 30-40 minutes to get all that sorted out. But they say they've tested it and everyone is in agreement, so who am I to piss against the wind? |
|
Yeah, I'm thinking a SC is not that big of a deal and certainly shouldn't be considered "Americanizing" the race.
Actually, it would be far safer if you have the prototypes grouped together at a restart instead of having them mixed in with the GT class. Restarts with different acceleration and handling between vehicles would get very spicy at T1-T2 when the green flag comes back out. |
