Ferrari lasting 35 laps on those tires really make me think those 300km of test helped… even with different compounds

Who got the penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct? I heard it but did not catch the name.

Driving excessively slow under the caution. Norris was trying to give a bit more of a gap for the double stack pit stop with Piastri. |

View Quote My understanding is he was excessively slow under the SC - I think he did it so the team could double stack in the pits… |

Alonso on the radio saying he wants to win the race…
Come on Alonso! |
|

Russell out.
They’re saying the brake wear was too high. So much for those great carbon brakes. ?? |

Anyone else notice how much the alpine rear wing wobbles when going over curbs? The support structure must be super thin.
|
|
|
Quoted: Saw that too - thought it might break off! ?? View Quote I wonder if there is an advantage to allowing the rear wing to "squat"? Thin supports and the amount of downforce might let the supports to bow out and the wing to sit lower during high speeds. Not sure if it's beneficial, but thing is wobbly af. |

In the next two laps we should have some fun between Alonso and Hamilton. Hamilton will have DRS.

Unpopular opinion. Albon for driver of the day for putting the trash truck of a Williams into seventh and then holding off a flock of attackers with no DRS advantage for as long as he did.

I know the car let him down today, but I wonder how many races Sargeant has left before that seat goes to a pay driver.

Quoted: I know the car let him down today, but I wonder how many races Sargeant has left before that seat goes to a pay driver. View Quote He’s good for the season at least. Quite a few American sponsors on the car as well. Albon was also running with upgrades this weekend that were not on Sargeant’s car. No doubt he is going to have to start to show something this year, but if he does, he’s good for another season. Otherwise, they might work a deal to replace him with Schumacher. |

So the next question is can VER equal Prost (51) and Vettel (54) this year?
|
|
Had to watch late because of family commitments,
I'd say that Duracell definitely got their money's worth today. The spirit of Frank Williams may rise again? Russell and Merc getting that car back into the race and fighting back up to P8 (I think) before retirement ?? Not gonna lie, that was impressive. Almost endurance car like. Ferrari actually making a decent call (in hindsight) although in the moment I thought they fucked it up. P4 and P5 is about the best they could've salvaged from that qualifying. As much as I don't like Hamilton personally or politically, that podium really is probably the 3 best drivers in the sport right now. And I say that as a Leclerc and Ferrari fan. Final thought, you can still taste the tension in the cooldown room between HAM and VER, despite knowing they are being filmed and putting on a good face. It's awkward AF. |
